I never use AWB; mine's permanently stuck to "Daylight" unless I'm shooting under tungsten lights when I'll change it to "Tungsten". Works fine for me and it's always consistent!

The good news is that the rest state of FD lenses is the same as PK ones (ie closed until an action is performed).

The bad news is that these were breech-lock lenses, not bayonets. The registration distance is too short (so you'd lose infinity), and the levers that operate the aperture are in the wrong place for Pentax - meaning completely new internals would need to be fabricated to make it work.

It would be a very brave project (and nothing's impossible!) but the level of bespoke components that needed to be fabricated mean that again you're likely to end up spending more money making it work than it would to just buy an equivalent Pentax lens in the first place.

As far as I'm aware the only lenses that will successfully work on the K mount (other than K mount lenses of course) are:

M42 (many manufacturers)
Nikon (pre-AI no adapter required)
Contax/Yashica (with modified bayonet mount)
Leica R (with modified bayonet mount)
Pretty much any MF/LF lens with an appropriate adapter. Adapters readily available for Pentax 645, Pentax 67 and Pentacon 6. LF lenses require a additional focussing mechanism such as bellows.

I'd forget anything from Canon, Minolta, Olympus, Praktica B, etc (certainly no rangefinder lenses such as Leica M or Contax) as they'll just be far more trouble than the end results would ever justify.

Hope that helps

Brass is harder and less likely to cross-thread (and get stuck).

It depends how old it is (it doesn't say on the listing) - there have been two sizes of eyepiece for Pentax: Screwmount bodies and the K-series used a slightly smaller one, everything from the M series onwards (circa 1976) including the digital bodies have used a slightly larger one.

So if this dates from the late 70's onwards it should fit your camera.

No. You would need to machine a bespoke mount that maintained the correct registration distance for the lens.

Also, I believe the Fuji AX (bayonet) lenses work the same way as M42 lenses - ie their "rest" state is with the aperture open which then requires a movement to close (the opposite of the K mount where the "rest" state is closed and requires a movement to open), hence your bespoke mounting would also require some serious reworking of the lens internals.

By the time you've finished you'll have ended up paying several hundreds of pounds and/or many, many hours to convert a mediocre lens to K-mount. Much better to just buy a Pentax one in the first place IMO...

Of course there's nothing to stop you using a reversing ring and mounting the Fuji back-to-front for macro work.

This is the sort of thing - in fact that's probably as cheap as you'll get one delivered for.

Are the ones listed on ebay link not what you are looking for?
Not that one - that allows a 42mm lens to be mounted on a 39mm body. We're looking for the exact opposite of that (mine's just a very thin ring with a 42mm thread on the outside and a 39mm thread on the inside like a spacer).

You might even want the k7 only for the sound the shutter make, it really is day and night compared with the K10D.
For me that is probably the last reason for changing a camera body
I'd always thought that, then playing with a mate's new K-7 last week suddenly made my K10D sound like thunderclaps every time I took a photo...

It may not be quite enough reason on its own but it sure does help the K-7's case!

SRB Griturn don't list everything on their website, but they will manufacture small items to order. Something like a 39-42 adapter would be easy for them to make but if you ask them I'm sure they've probably already got a few pre-made somewhere.
