I've used three (120) rolls of Fuji Reala this last weekend, and for this week coming I have a roll of process-paid Kodachrome 64 which has just been loaded into the LX. I still like film but other than the odd roll of 35mm it's nearly all MF or digital for me.

Thank you Hefty for the explanation.
Still my mind can't really grasp it.

The lens has a smaller angle of view on APS-C sensor so it should behave like a 42mm shift lens on 135 format right?
I'm probably well off target with this Anvh, but I think the the shift is more effective at the image edges, hence we lose that when we crop in. I tried my 28 shift in my istD and could not see any beneficial effect. Much better when it was used on my LX.

I wonder if they come from the same factory in China/Vietnam/Taiwan as the real thing?
The Vietnamese factory is owned by Hoya/Pentax so probably not, although the odd "reject" may find its way out via a light fingered employee. Not the same as a counterfeit though...

I never noticed, but then you should hear what my friends say about me...

I'd be really very interested to see one of these lenses as I concur it would probably be cheaper to buy the real thing than to make up a load of copies. Mind you, the 1.7x TC seems to turn up "new" on eBay periodically in batches - maybe they're fakes?

I've seen good lenses and I've seen bad lenses but I've never seen a counterfeit one. Anyone got a picture of one somewhere? Is it just a case of taking a (for instance) DA18-55 and putting stickers on it proclaiming to be a DA*16-50 or something?

I can see the benefits of a new mount if Pentax where to enter the mirrorless market, indeed sticking to the K mount would make no sense as it would restrict the size that the cameras could be built down to.

With the existing line of DSLRs I don't think Pentax lost much by keeping the K mount (indeed they gained in terms of customer loyalty) because when you look at the original (non-micro) FourThirds standard it's hardly any smaller.

(don't bother on a crop-sensor though).
Why not?
Because there's not enough shift to make an appreciable difference. Even on a 36x24 sensor / film there's very little shift available. Shift lenses give progressively more noticeable results as the format size increases. Tilt lenses on the other hand are pretty effective regardless of sensor/film size.

My red/green is a bit of a problem but then I knew that anyway. I can tell traffic lights apart so that's the important thing...

You almost forgot the coin-operated Slotmatic that was rented out at various pleasure beaches in the 60's...
