There's a general feeling that lenses older than the "A" series aren't worth having on a DSLR because the camera can't set the aperture and consequently everything has to be done manually (in addition, the K10D can give somewhat flaky meter readings when the lens is used in any way other than fully open). Because of this, "M" series and earlier lenses tend to swap hands for peanuts and this is where you'll find some bargains.

The M50/1.4 is a great low light / portrait lens with stunning optics that can be picked up for around the £25-30 mark.

The M50/1.7 can be had for even less (around £10-15), is half a stop slower than its 1.4 sibling but has a flatter field meaning it's better suited to macro work. Get one of these and some macro tubes and you've killed two birds with one stone! Better yet, you should have change from 30 quid.

Can't think of any dirt cheap fisheyes I'm afraid, but you could always look out for an old fisheye convertor (the kind that screws in like a filter) - they tend to be quite poor quality though.

I get excellent results using an Epson printer (R300), standard Epson software/drivers and Ilford Galerie paper (smooth gloss is my favourite) but I only ever use genuine Epson ink - I found to my cost some while ago that third party inks gave very poor and unpredictable results. As my mum always said; buy cheap, buy twice.

I look forward to accepting that challenge!

If you fully shift and tilt in the same direction you can get a little vignetting in two corners on the long side of the frame. Also at this extreme you have to compensate for light falloff.
Do you get similar problems with your EOS version? I ask because that's likely to be the same as the Pentax K-mount Hartbleis and reliable information on these lenses is a little thin on the ground. I'd also be interested in seeing any pictures you've taken with either lens.

Sorry to keep asking all these questions, welcome to the forum by the way!

Cheers Clarky, I'm very proud of my little silver set!

Shame the silver isn't a perfect match for the MX but I figure that's down to the lenses being aluminium and the MX being steel. Good enough for me though!

Whats's about some pics of chrome or black lenses on Film-SLRs, guys?

It's hard to decide...
MX + FA Limiteds = Pure Joy!

The silver is slightly different on the lenses to the MX (more like the MZ-S shown in Reuben's photo) but they still look classy!

It's the noise reduction process. Long exposures can create quite a bit of noise so the camera does a double-take; the first with the shutter open (your normal exposure) and a second with the shutter closed (which records noise only), it then takes the information from the second shot away from the first to leave you with a "clean" picture. Both shots have to be of identical duration so conditions are replicated, hence if you take a 10 minute 14 second exposure then the camera will take a second ten minute 14 second exposure immediately before anything is written to the memory card.

If you don't like waiting (and can live with the noise or deal with it in PP) then it can be switched off in the Custom Menu - look for Long Exposure NR.

It may sound unlikely but you're not holding the camera to your face differently are you? Maybe pressing the arrows with your nose or a stray digit?

I'd be suprised if anyone else around here has one so that makes yours pretty special! Out of interest, how much did you pay for it on eBay?

I know it's not the sort of lens that I'd use a lot but it is something that I'd like to have in my arsenal. Actually I'd like an Ebony field camera but I can't afford that either...

Both my FA Limiteds are silver and George is right, it is a brushed satin-like finish (I guess it's aluminium but I'm prepared to be wrong!) - definitely not painted though!

Silver lenses look much classier than black ones as well...
