I really like the second one - the light low down in the sky gives it a very romantic feeling.

The first one is a little bleak - it certainly looks cold but not very appealing to me. I can't quite make up my mind about the third one.

Considering they were taken from a bus I think you did very well overall!

As you can see, my K10 was back-focussing just a tad

The Russian lenses are made from tooling taken in war reparations from the Carl Zeiss factories.
For the sake of completeness this is only true if the lens in question carries the dove prism logo, signifying it was made at the KMZ factory - that's where all the Carl Zeiss manufacturing equipment ended up going as a reward for the factory's efforts in producing optical equipment for the Russian forces during the war.

I've had several Helios 44's pass through my hands and I always sell them on, just keeping the best (the quality is variable to say the least). I have to say the best ones always seem to carry the "shish kebab" logo of the Valdai factory (one of the smallest factories) - maybe that's just coincidence or maybe they had harder taskmasters...

Anyway, what were we talking about again..?

I just gave them a ring and was told the order was never going to happen (words to that effect) so I've cancelled it. Nothing was offered as a substitute but then I wasn't really interested in another Tamron 70-300 anyway.

Oh well, doesn't look like I'll ever get to play with a DA50-200 after all...

Old flashes can sometimes have very high trigger voltages which can damage modern cameras. Pentax DSLR's are more resilient than most but it's still worth checking first with a voltmeter.

This is an area that's been discussed here many times, do a search on "flash trigger voltage" and you'll turn up several threads.

Once you've established that your flash is safe then yes it can probably be used. You won't get P-TTL functionality so its usefulness will be determined by how much manual control the flash gives and how comfortable you are working with a manual flashgun.

Good luck!
