Cool.

What about the car parking? Is it cheap and ample?

And is there food & drink available there or should I stock up at services en route?

What was the weather like and how much walking did you all end up doing? So I know what to wear for tomorrow...

I'll see you there at 8 then. Any idea where we're going or should I print off some directions?

At this rate it looks like it might just be us...

If you want to keep P-TTL capacity then you'll need *another* 360 (or 540 or similar) to act as master. If you're prepared to work the flash in manual mode (which is what you want anyway in studio work for repeatability/tweaking reasons) then you'll either have to:

a) Get some sort of remote firing system (search for Cactus V2 on eBay for probably the cheapest solution).

or

b) Buy an old manual flashgun to sit on the camera and trigger the 360 in Slave Mode II (see the 360 manual for changing slave modes). The on camera flash won't work as it will trigger the 360 on the pre-flash (which can't be turned off as the built in's P-TTL only).

Worth doing though! Off camera flash is so much more flexible than on camera

I enjoyed this week's AP but the thing that suprised me most was the fact they chose to test the Tak on a Nikon DSLR with extra elements for the infinity focus. Considering it could have been used on a Pentax, Canon, Sony or Olympus *without* the need for a glass adapter they hardly gave it a fair crack of the whip in my opinion. Oh well...

And what camera fair did they go to to pick up a working Zenit TTL with Helios 44M-4 for a fiver? More to the point, when's the next one?

Looks like you got yourself a nice bargain. The hard bit now will be deciding which bits you can bear to part with to make it all pay for itself...

Still, there's no rush. Give the lenses each a run-out on your K10D and see which ones suit you best.

I reckon I could turn that lot into £200 on eBay without too much effort - probably a bit more than that these days (with the weak £). For £100 it's a no-brainer; buy the lot, keep the bits you want and flog what's left for more (hopefully) than you paid for all of it.

And how is my bro's old camera behaving itself? I bet you've had more use out of it these last few weeks than he did in the last few years.

As for choosing Pentax, the short answer is that the K10D was the best camera on the market in terms of bang-for-buck at the time I was buying my first DSLR. If I could do it over again I wouldn't change a thing
