Is there a place other than flickr or pbase to browse pictures taken with k-m, i am especially interested how it works in green mode and how much the metering has improved.
Try here: link

The site's run by Pentax USA hence the K-m is known by its American name; K2000. Apart from the name the K-m/K2000 are identical in every respect so you could try searching for photos from both on Flickr, etc.

It wouldn't hurt to call and confirm - that's what I would do anyway.

Likewise Malo1961 I feel the same way. Do I dare venture out this week lugging my camera around and just point it at something someone else created just to photocopy it for someone here to criticize ?
That happened to be my first contest entry on this site, might just be my last! I must have taken twenty shots over the span of an hour trying to get the result I wanted and I was QUITE happy with it.
Thanks oh so much for the inspiration there Darkmunk.
Don't take it personally; it's very easy for photo snobs to sit and snipe from the sidelines but far more difficult to actually go out and participate. By entering these competitions you'll get valuable insights and feedback that will help you improve as a photographer and explore hitherto uncharted waters - ignore the doomsayers or at least take their words with liberal pinches of salt.

Try Harrow Technical or Asahi Photo for your repairs - they may even be able to talk you through on the phone. No need to send your camera to America...

It is the General Chat forum - doesn't have to be photography related...

I am intrigued to know why it mattered though, I'm with Dan thinking all greenhouses were much of a muchness.

An out of production film body with a 50mm lens for US $5,500.00?

An out of production lens for US $6,789.00?

Although to be fair, if I won the lottery I'd probably buy both...

And check out the bargain K10/20D grips!

Really great judging Hyram and congratulations to Lilly and all the other contestants. I loved Aiki's wall by the way, they must have been painting that for days!

As for:

Nice detailing but the difficulty with the photo, of course, is the obtrusive window on the Victorian house in the background behind Beatrice. Having said that, I appreciate that a different angle (to cut out the window) would give a less attractive view of the statue itself. And, who knows, rather like Estate Agents’ photos, there could be some other gremlin waiting in the wings!
Actually, at 180 degrees there's a lovely little lake with a bandstand just over the bank - very picturesque indeed! Most of the photos I took featured that view but when I got them home I prefered the one of her glancing back at the (actually quite new) block of flats. Each to their own...

I think the Internet must take the lion's share of the blame. When I was shooting film I had a weekly browse through AP and a couple of John Hedgecoe books as inspiration; 36 shots would be a month's worth of photography. Now I can read up on lenses and techniques that would never have crossed my radar in the old days and I can rattle off 36 shots before breakfast!

Digital photography has made it easier for me to experiment but the Internet has given me the impetus to do so. As for focal lengths I always favoured mid-length telephotos and I still do, so not much has actually changed there except I own more (and better) examples of the breed.

The heaviest K-mount lens that Pentax have made is the A*1200/8 at a whisker over 8.5kg. I'd be very suprised if the mount on any Pentax SLR/DSLR would break with a lens lighter than this attached (the DA*60-250 is a mere 1040g making it a featherweight in comparison).
