Welcome Konrad, if you've time can you fill in your location please. It helps when local groups have a meet, they know who's likely to be interested.

Welcome, you should have some good climbing boots, living in cumbria, that'll help you climb that curve.

I agree with John, option 3.

Get her a smaller set, say 32", and just get the K7 body.

After all, if you get the grip now you've no excuse to call in at SRS and browse...

You can use any Pentax compatable remote, if it's the same as my K200d.

Try the Remote F, or you could try a cheap multi camera one from Ebay like this one

I seem to recall that the IR activation bit is on the functions menu under the shooting rate bit (Fn button, up button and you should see a remote icon!)

That's how my K110d works, I think, I can't check as my daughter has it at the moment!

Sorry, I was miss led about lens correction by the chart in the dpreview review.

Shame really, that should be standard on all new bodies no matter where in the range they are.

Hm!

As I recall last year the Samsung GX20 was well above any Canon when I got fed up and stopped voting(in March!) so when do they close the poll?

I've a Tamron 18-250 which is very soft/out of focus a t the long end on my K200d(I haven't tried it on my K110d yet).

I would check with your standard lens(es) as to infinity as a starter. After that do a front/back focus test and if possible adjust the camera to suit. I think this can be done on the K-x but could be wrong

Here we go again!

I recall the fact that after a wait of half an hour or so you can vote again on this pointless poll.

We did last year and skewed the results so much that the top 4 were Pentax/Samsung cameras!

I'm not playing this year as it's a pointless exercise...

....unless....
