I have bought a Samsung GX10 with kit lens for £195, I apologise for it not having a Pentax badge but the most important thing is that I can stick my Pentax lenses on the front. I just could not afford to lay out any more money ( MOT due next week) and if I tried to hold on to the money and save there would always be another household bill or repair which will eat my savings. Thank you everyone for your comments

Thank you for your replies, money really is one of the big problems. I may have to hang on and save a bit more. The extra £100 is too much at the moment apeksdiver, but thank you anyway (unless you fancy trying to convince my wife, you may succeed where I have failed very miserably!) Cheers, Lee

I am very upset that my kx has turned its toes up. A few months ago the E-dial was playing up, so I sent it to Asahi. Job done for £100. Then the camera just died, no response to CPR. I am so disappointed at the quality of the build of this camera but I was so impressed at the image quality. Now it is after Christmas we are all skint, I have the chance at a K10D for £200, would this be a wise move, only 20,000 clicks. I want something with a more reliable build quality than super stunning image quality, It is no good having the best image quality if you cannot capture the image. I thank you in advance for your valued opinions, Lee

I really like this shot, I don't think you could have found a better location for this picture of Douglas. A few years ago I went to a Thomas the tank engine Christmas Special day at Quainton near Aylesbury. The most dissappointing Christmas ever! There must have been about 50 metres of track and we just went back and forth until the worst Santa and his elves said 'we've only got colouring books left' When I wanted to get what I thought would be a good shot, Edward's face started to fall off!

Welcome Will, I have the kx with kit lens, 55-300mm and a couple of old bits of glass. I think you have made a great choice. The main reason I chose Pentax is the ability to use all the lenses. I picked up a 50mm f1.8 manual lens for £10.50 on Ebay, great fun for the price of 3 pints of beer. I am constantly impressed with the image quality from my kx. Good luck with your photography, you have made a great first step joining this forum it is a great source of information for me.

The longest lens I own is the 55-300mm, and I get some half decent pictures with it. Wildlife is my main subject for photography, and I get as much enjoyment from improving my field craft as I do from improving my photography.

I have had the same problem with my kx. I sent it to Asahi for repair I think they said the problem was a knackered sub pcb. £95 to fix.

I use AV most of the time but indoors with the pop up flash I find TV best

I, like many others chose Pentax because of the ability to use some stunning old lenses. I used Sony before for the same reason as I had some beautiful sharp lenses, unfortunately Sony are incapable of making a camera body of the same quality. I have a KX and five lenses having spent less than £450. Extensive research and 'try before you buy' helped me before laying out such a vast amount of money on my gear
