Which part of the uk are you in. If its close enough then I will probably be interested

That is the very reason that I purchased a Sigma ring flash for just over half of the price of 360 and less than half of the 540. I admit a ring flash is not for everyone but it suits me at present.

In days gone by it was a Police Force but now to soften the blow it is a Police Service I generally feel that many of the younger bobbys are really the ex school bully in a uniform who feel that they can do what they like when they like. I am not a criminal by the way and close to being 70 year old but there is no way that many of todays coppers would I respect. They do forget thay respect is earnt, not demanded and will only come when they start to respect the public at large. The sad thing is that those I would and do respect are getting more and more outnumbered by the rabble and I suspect they realise this but are unable to do much about it. Lucky for me I live in a small town where crime is of a low level in the main and our local bobby is great but when he is on holiday it all goes to the dogs. Sorry Police officers but that is the way it is.

Hi guys

Any good people out there using a K20 and the Sigma EM 140 ring flash for macro. I want to take macro and close up using this combination and am looking for any tips. Oh yes I will be using a Sigma 105 lens in the main though I do have a couple of others. Any tips will be more than welcome.:

Well done. I am sure that you will find it a joy to work with. I would recommend though that you consider something along the lines of a B-tech in digital photography. I am about to start level 3 and have found it both fascinating and worthwhile. It has done wonders for my confidence in constructing and taking shots and I do now know an awful lot more about Photoshop. I don't know it all but there again I have never met anyone that does. Even Scott Kelby the author, who probably knows more than most, I bet does not know it all. These courses are not easy to find. I live in Leics and had to cross the border to Notts but well worth it.
Join the Shropshire photo Society or at least look at their website because it is a great way to get info quickly and cheaply.

There is miles of potential here. Personally I would have stooped down a touch and there by altering the angle a bit and probably improving the dof. Whatever is done that truly lovely piece of woodrot must be in there because that is your no.1 eye grabber then after that its just a matter of the angle and probably a small amount of cropping. I am envious though and well stopped.

Sorry to go on a bit but there is an excellent Photograhic Society in Shropshire where you would be able to speak to not only Pentax users but other usera as well (spit).
Seriously if you did do a college course you are mixing with like minded people and using and getting to use Photoshop properly. It is well worth cosidering.

I use a K20 and love it to bits. It does everything I want except make the morning cuppa. If you buy a used K20 wisely, ie a very reputable dealer etc you will get just as good a warranty from that good dealer as you would buying a new one. Stay calm, dont rush it and barter like mad. Beware of camera's that you have not seen such as ex Honk Kong etc but you will be well served with a K20.

Before spending any money sit back and ask yourself exactly what you want to do with your photography? If it is just point and shoot on holiday for example then you dont need a dslr. If you are going to advance yourself in photographic knowledge then almost certainly a dslr is a must. If you are going to do a college course then again a dslr is almost mandatory because they almost universally advocate shooting in "Raw". Also if doing a course that involved Studio work then not only is a dslr a requirement but one with a pc outlet to fire the lights is best. There are other ways to fire the strobes but a pc outlet is best.
It does not really matter how much you spend because it is such a bug that it never was enough. Good luck whatever you do because you will have a lot of fun and a great sense of achievment.
