I can see the scientific us, it's use as a general photography lens will have to grow on me, like the appreciation of a fine wine.

Will someone please explain the purpose of a fish-eye lens, I find the pictures distorted, unnatural and ugly, I do not see what is being aimed at. Would a panoramic shot not achieve the same purpose more realistically.
I know I'm missing something in my understanding and that's what I'm trying to find out
Educate me please.

I'm looking for ideas on how to make aesthetically pleasing identification labels which can be glued to a lens cap. The ones I've made, using the normal printer label, become scruffy and marked over time, there must be a better material available.
Any thoughts,
Greg

That does not sound good. In what way has it failed?
Try removing the lens and moving the switch, and check for any debris in the screw drive.

I was given a KASHIMURA DIANON 135mm f2.8 lens today and it came with the mount as shown in the photos below. I believe that it is fitted with a T mount M-SR adapter for Minolta.
I’ve never seen a T or T2 mount and after reading up about them am a bit confused.
My understanding is that the T2 is in two parts, namely a threaded section with a 42mm .75mm pitch thread and a similar fitting to the one in the picture below.
The T adapter is only the item with the three grub screws in the photo and that's all that I must order.
It’s a beautifully made lens and although I probably won’t be using it, it’s too good to just dump.
This appears to be what I need.

Please educate me.

take the average as the correct setting.
Focus extend to the rear so when you go from the rear to the front it will faster say it's in focus
As I see it to get a consistent focus point I must develop the habit of always focusing and refocusing from the same direction, ie say from near to far as there is less DOF.
That is a complicated explanation you linked to, do you really want me to understand it
Thanks for the comments.

Can anyone please confirm whether or not there is a difference in the actual focus point at which the green confirmation hex lights up, depending upon the direction from which you approach the focus point. ie from the minimum focus distance to green hex confirmation and then from the infinity side back to green hex confirmation point.
I ran a series of test shot today to try and find an acceptable AF correction setting for my K200D using the Debug AF adjustment and became more and more confused by the inconsistency of the results of the adjustments and came to the conclusion the the direction of focus was the cause.
A test run of ten photos auto focusing from infinity back to the focus point and the confirmation hex all showed a common focus point on a 45deg chart, The same exercise auto focusing from the minimum focus distance out to the focus point also all showed a common focus point, but the focus point had moved forward by about 15mm.
I was using my FA 100mm f2.8 Macro lens at about 1500mm from the target, tripod and 2sec mirror lockup, no SR.
Please enlighten me.
