Well not should but generally would be is what i meant as uv comes from the sun and a uv filter used outside would help block uv

maybe saying should be used outside wasn't meant in the way i made it sound was talking hypethetically, point is that i'm asking is......i'll rephase it......i'm led to believe that the main purpose in having a uv filter is to protect the front element, but used outside will help block uv, if used indoors will it have any effect on image quality.

In simple terms i'm asking, is it ok for me to leave uv filters on my lenses without taking them off at all.

I generally leave a uv filter on every lens i have all the time to protect the front glass, is this a good thing or a bad thing?

UV should be used outside i know but what about indoor photography for example in a studio environment, should it stay on or off, will it make a diffence to image quality?

some good tricks to use there stefan, i've had the same problem before but when i had it it was attached to a uv filter, (uv's stay on the lenses permenantly) so all i did was get a small flat head screw driver put it into the groove on the filter and put a little pressure on to loosen it, at worse i had a little scratch on the outer ring of the uv filter. not ideal but it worked. this actually leads me to another question which i will make a new thread on so as not to interfere with this one.

i'm sure if you can get gels big enough you could pop it on the top before you put the dome on, i'll look out see what i can find.
i have a lot of testing to do with the diffuser yet will let you know the results when i get chance to set up and test it all out

I want to say the same thing like Ken last night but you had put so much effort into it that I'm sure bladerunneruk would appreciate the effort.

This is where you go wrong, bladerunneruk didn't asked for that but he asked about colour corrections gells and how if anyone has any experience, either bounced off ceiling, via umbrella or softbox.

I agree with what your saying but like i said, i offered an alternative and just showed him the "basic" results with what i had withought setting up studio. i did want to just show the different effects and also how strong the colours come out.

I was demonstrating the diffuser that i linked. I wasn't demonstrating colour correcection or anything else just wanted to show how they changed the colour and the diffence in intensity when its away from the camera. at 11 oclock at night with no other lighting and just in my kitchen it was the best i could do to show someone who was asking questions how effective the diffent coloured domes can be.

I personal use it for portraits and my lighting is all daylight bulbs so if anything the different colourd domes will be used to change background colours.

I cant see the point?
You take the lens cap off anyway so who is it going to make smile? unless it vibrates in your pocket or something?

And also only 100 made? is that 100 of each colour then cause there are 100 colours listed, if there were only 100 made they would have to take them off the site as there sold.

This was taken with the diffuser with just the clear cap, i'll try over the next day or 2 if i get chance to do a load of comparisons and post them up to show you the different effects.
