Hi and welcome. I'd personally say the twin lens kit would give you a much better range to get you going, Why not try the 18-55 and the 50-200 theres £100 difference in it then and it'll be hard to get that lens for less than 100. Failing that see how you go and the tamron 70-300 only cost me £90 brand new.

Nope, neither the k-m or k-x, however you can get wireless and cheap ones work very well too.

have a look at this thread.

there is no difference other than the DA-L has a plastic mount and no fine tune focus, the DA has a metal mount and you can move the focus ring without restriction when in auto focus. glass is the same.

Edit: you can still use the DA-l in auto and manual, just if you want to fine tune in auto it feels like your working against the motor.

i want to take professional looking shots ,like many i have seen on this site ,but not achieved afterwards on a computer, thats cheating i feel.I refused to use a calculator in my maths exam .I still got a grade 1 so think i did right thing, and i still add up big numbers in my head while others stay silent or look for a pen and paper,or use their mobile phone.well technology is here for better or worse, but i have brought the k200 mainly for recording my new baby daughter's first years, brought some highly recomended manual lenses takumar ,ziess to name a few, just want to learn now and to make great pic,s without editing.so please give your views, is the k200 good?and is the kx better.cheers nigel.
The kx and k200, like any camera, are incapable of taking good photographs. Only good photographers can do that. If you are keen to go down the manual route the K10, K20 and K7 might actually suit you better.
The k-x is perfectly capable of working very well in manual mode.

Nigel, the low light capapbilities are just a bonus in my eyes, it does very well in daylight too, have a look at my photostream the recent animal pictures were taken on a bright sunny day with the k-x.

So i dug out the manual and found out how to set it in bulb.....thing is tho, the remote i have works a treat and does everything on the k-x, the k-m is a different story, its supposed to stay open while the remote button is held down, it does'nt even do that i'm afraid.

Sell the k-m and get a k-x you wont be dissapointed.

Neither the k-m or the k-x have a port for a wired remote, however with the cheap £2.69 or whatever it was remote i bought from china it works on bulb. there is a setting in the menu's, if you cant find them let me know i'll tell you the page on the manual or where to find it in the settings. You can set it to auto focus with the remote and also set it to either stay open while the remote button is held down (bit of a pain though with the sensor being at the front of the camera) or press to open shutter, press again to close.

Like i say have a browse through the settings or the manual, if you get stuck, or if i get chance in a bit i'll let you know where to change the settings.

I cant comment on the k20 or k-7 other than i chose a k-x over both because of the newer tech and low light capabilities, i love it and dont regret my decision. another factor in making my choice was i'd of been annoyed if a few months after buying a k-7 they produced a new one with the low light capabilities of the k-x with the higher end spec of the k-7, so when they bring a new one out i'll be looking at my options in a year or so.

Some people also say the AA batteries of the k-x is a problem as apposed to the lithium of the k20 and k-7, i personally prefer the AA's, there cheap for good rechargeables and available anywhere, so if your caught short one day maybe slipped up and forgot your second set of batteries, you can buy them anywhere.
