Why don't you just buy a video camera?

Electronic cameras, like computers, watches, and other gizmos, can only "remember" the time and other ephemeral data if there is a battery inside it that isn't flat. Since the main battery has to be taken out of the device from time to time all these machines have another battery inside to keep the memory functioning. On computers they are often called the CMOS battery or the clock battery.
If the main battery goes flat, the clock battery will in time go flat too, and in time reach the stage where it isn't rechargeable.
On the first Pentax DSLRs the clock battery was replaceable, but on later ones they are hard-wired for cost saving reasons, and I imagine that other brands are the same.
If you are an electronic whizz-kid with superior soldering skills you might be able to de-solder the clock battery and replace it. But that's a big if.
I stopped shooting for quite a while and now have two K10D's and one K20D with the same problem. Over the winter I might strip down one of the 10's and see if a repair might in any way be feasible.

Never heard of the rule that rules are made to be broken? And anyway, most "rules" are not rules but suggestions.

But talking of rules, one that you appear to have overlooked is that if you can't say something nice, say nothing. Even if a picture is bad (and these aren't) you can generally find something to praise if you look hard enough.

Since coming back to this forum I have learnt that Spad consistently produces pictures of a high standard both technically and compositionally. Sunsets are such a popular subject that it's hard to produce a picture that pleases the jaded eye, but Spad has managed to produce not one but three.

Tempting. But they go for quite a lot of money. My new K2 came with a pristine SMC K 50 1:1.4 which I reckon was worth £75.00 on its own. As the total package was £100.00, that prices the K2 at £25.00. Quite a bargain for a little-used and well cared-for camera.

The cheapest I could find! Kodak Gold. But if this unlikely love affair continues I will try others, including B&W.

I think I may have been the first on this forum, and if not I was certainly one of the first, to buy a Pentax digital camera. At the time I was sure I would never buy another film in my life.

Fast forward 20 years, and I have recently acquired five film cameras and am loving the experience (though not the cost) of putting film through them.

Five??? Yes. One is a K2, in very good condition. It replaces the one that was stolen from me in 1975! Next come two SVs. First I bought a dodgy one for almost no money, fell in love with it, so then bought one that works. The SV is a really lovely camera. It's basically an SP2 without meter or hot-shoe, and is therefore slightly smaller than a Spotty (and nicer looking in MHO).

Next came two non-working ME Fs, without the AF lens. The ME F is a superb camera; much nicer and more capable than the ME Super (because it has focus confirmation - useful for old codgers). Sadly, they suffer from a Fatal Flaw. The battery compartment and cover are the very worst things Pentax ever made, and are not easy to repair.

So at the moment I am using the K2 with a 50mm 1:1.2 lens, and the SV with a traditional 55mm 1:1.8. And I am waiting to get back the film I shot on the Super A with 40mm.

I love my digital cameras, but these new ones are something else. The Super A is in danger of being knocked off its pedestal as my favourite camera of all time. Both the K2 (so purposeful and strong) and the SV (so beautiful) are now in contention for the top slot.

I like to think that I won't buy any more cameras, but a good LX going cheap might yet persuade me to open my wallet. Sadly, it would probably cost three times what I paid for the other five.

I love the care and craftsmanship that went into the construction of even quite mundane industrial buildings.

Why don't you just sell it and use the proceeds to buy a Sigma? There can be very few people who both have the Sigma and who want to swap it for a 60-250.
