I've just upgraded my K7 to a K5 and find the focus a lot quicker, much better under low light and there seems to be less 'searching' on some lens.

However I (and others) have come across a focusing issue with the K5 with fast lens in low tungsten light where the camera claims its focused but then the images are all severely front focused. Supposidly this will be fixed under a firmware update. Other than that the K5 is a lot better focusing than my previous K10D, K20D and K7...

Any K-5 owners found any problems with AF ( front focusing it seems ) in tungsten or low light.
Playing with my K5 last night with some fast lens I get the same front-focusing issues raised by others on the Pentax Forum. I thought initially it was me, but others have reported similar situations.

It's very annoying and hopefully addressed by Pentax soon. (Others have reported it is not in the new 1.02 firmware update... )

I went to SRS yesterday and picked up a K5. The SRS staff indicated that the serial numbers on the outer box are marked with a large 'O' which indicates that they should be free from any sensor staining.

Excellent service at SRS, they even cleaned the large lump of dust that appeared after the first activation for free...

You have heard around 5%? A figure plucked out of thin air? So you're pitting hearsay against an actual poll on TWO seperate forums? The polls are not perfect of course, but they correlate in figures and are the ONLY evidence we have.
The 5% figure came from SRS... who now seem to have dropped to 4% according to another member on here...

Exit and opinion polls mean nothing its only the final vote or numbers that count....

As I said only Pentax know how bad the issue is....

An early morning post Algi...

As the saying goes 'there are lies, damn lies and statistics'. You can't take the polls here and on other forums as being the definitive '50% are faulty' figure. As I said earlier I don't know how many are fault, surely only Pentax would know how big a messup it is....

p.s. 95% of all statistics are made up...

It's an awful lot of K-5s worldwide though. It seems the rate of faulty units is around 50%.
Where has Pentax or anyone stated that 50% of the units are faulty? You cannot base your assumptions on a poll here.... I had heard its around 5%, but again I don't have first hand correct information from Pentax.

Ouch, that is quite evident on yours SmutjeUK... As you say you could easily PP it out, but when you've paid a £1,000 for a camera you shouldn't have to...

EDIT: lol you edited yours when I was typing so it looks like I repeated what you said... lol
