Its good. Similar in format and some information to the previous pentax guides (K10d - K7). It explains somethings better than in the manual. I think the author is a member on here....

I haven't got a K-x but assume that the shake reduction on/off is situated within the menu system. On the K5 its on the 4th menu at the bottom.

Be aware that the camera automatically switches Shake Reduction off in the following situations: using the self-timer, remote control shooting, shooting in B mode or during HDR Capture.

Hope this helps.

Yes, it is on the k-7 too. Not a great help for aircraft photography tho I imagine! Better to choose the normal (red dot) af point? (Unless i'm misunderstanding you totally!)
Lol. No that would be totally useless for aircraft photography. I was talking about SteveEveritt's comment about selective focusing. That'll teach me to comment on different parts of a thread...

I didn't use the liveview much on the K7 so didn't see this feature. The liveview on the K5 is much more usable and this comes in really handy - not when photographing aircraft, cars or children though...

I think also as Jon mentioned earlier is to put the camera on continuous drive/high speed drive mode. On the K7 the FPS was quicker than my old K20D, and I found that the camera in AF-C mode caught up with the aircraft, so you'd end up with more keepers and less shots that go straight into the recycle bin...

When photographing aircraft I don't use AF-S, but use AF-C (continous AF) and single centre point focus as well - it worked well with the K7... I'm looking forward to using the K5..

Ah see now that is where I've found the great function on the K5 (don't think it was on the K7) where you can set you camera up and then in live view move your selection point anywhere around on your rear screen to pick you focus point. It was something I found whilst tinkering the other night and a feature I will be using again...

I agree completely Jon and have found that method works for me too...

No problem.

I had no real issues with AF with static or slow moving objects - planes, cars and small children on the other hand.....

Anyway the K7 hunted in low light unless I used the 'assist light'. Overall I found the K7 a bit faster than the K20D but the picture quality was fairly similar.
