It seem to be a small percentage overall of all K-5's sold.
Actually the only evidence we have shows that it seems that just over half of K-5s are affected. There's no evidence to show otherwise at the moment.
Actually 'the evidence' shows that just over half the people who have responded have the issue. As Monobod said there could, and probably are, people out there who have no issues with the K-5, or are unaware of the issue and totally unaware of the polls on the pentax forums.

It is not definative that over half the K-5 are affected.

Cheers Chris.

Thank you for the update (and SRS for sorting out my order).

I will wait until after Christmas now and then I will be ordering from SRS in the future.

Thanks

Gary

Picture of my spots.

Contacted Mifsuds about it and have asked for a replacement, for some reason they don't seem too impressed.
But do you think that it's because you got it at a silly price...?

I had ordered one from SRS at the weekend. I cancelled my order this morning (thanks SRS & Chris for being so helpful) until this is sorted by Pentax.

Hope it gets sorted quickly for those affected.

the 170-500mm is cheaper and can be had for about 300/400, the af is noiser and the lens is alot lighter, but i found it sharper at 500mm wide open, the 150-500mm is nice and quit but needs stopping down to f8 to get decent sharpness, and cost alot more, as for os in the lens you dont really need it as the body has it, i find in body the same as in the lenses.
Having brought Pentaxanne's old 170-500 I can confirm that it is a great lens. Yes its a little on the noisy side when focusing but its hand-holdable and at the far end the shots are very usable (with a little PP).

In answer to your question having the fixing that far back on the lens is fine. When extended there is only air and glass at the front, so all the weight is at the rear...

Hope this helps.
