I messaged again 03/03/2011 - 16:10 and Chris did reply and said he'd call Pentax in the morning ( today, 4th march ) and let me know what they say.
Haha you and me both Smeggy. I got various responses from Chris, today he said that he has left multiple messages for his Pentax contact but has had no response so maybe he's getting ready for Focus.

Looking at your sig., I'd also sell the DA 18-55, DA 17-70, and the Sigma 70-300mm. I'd replace the low FL lenses with a DA*16-50, and maybe even replace the DAL50-300mm with a DA*60-250.
Any idea where I can pick that lot up cheaply would be much appreciated...

Hey no problem. Its a lot of money to pay to get a camera with a 'defect'. I think the cameras with serial numbers beginning with 39... are ok.

Hope you get it sorted quickly.

There were posts on Pentaxforum which indicated that cameras with a production date up to calendar week 49 are affected.

Pentax then solved the problem and cameras shipped from calendar week 50 2010 were free from the string of pearls.

Return it to Warehouse Express stating not fit for purpose and claim a refund/replacement.

Looks very much like it. What is the serial number and date of manufacture camera? (you can find that out using photome).

WEX = Warehouse Express, they should change/refund it easily enough.

I wanted the better ISO and AF performance of the K-5 and so sold my K-7 to fund the purchase.

ISO is far superior, AF not so much imo .. everything else is just fluff.

If the high ISO/DR is not important then go for the K-7 and lens.
I had the K-7 and thought it was a great camera - not a huge step up from the K20D but you would notice the step up from the K10D. Everything Mike says is spot on, with the K-5 AF maybe being a smidging quicker than the K-7....

Posted over at Pentaxforums...
Today there was a post on a German discussion forum.
This user talked to the main pentax authorized repair shop.
Apparently they have got the new firmware for the K-r (and I guess K-5 too) which solves the FF issue. According to them, it definitely solves the FF issue and will be available to the public in 2 weeks.
Good news if its true.
