I totally agree- I find such filters/processing to be nothing more than a novelty with mediocre results at best. Time to get out my old paints and brushes !

There are plenty of definitions online. Basically an arrangement of inanimate objects in a setting of your choice- you control every aspect of the image. A Tramp asleep on a bench, graveyards (!), waterdrops, splashes in wineglasses etc, etc are not still life images- not in the classical sense anyway. I included a kitten in a couple of mine so not strictly still life - I guess some might say rules are there to be broken- a lot of still life galleries online do just that !

You should at the long end, you may experience problems with vignetting at the wider end if your lens is not 'full frame' ie. older M and A.

Thank you very much Jason. I sometimes use a small Maglite to 'paint' in areas that need a lift, especially with candlelight.

I use tubes with a 50mm A F1.7, 70-210mm A f4 and a mint 100mm M F4 Macro - depending on the subject- all combinations give great results. The Raynox DCR snap-on macro is also worth trying- I have had some very nice pics using this lens on the 50mm 1.7 A.

I did notice you had a K5 for sale but did not want to insult you with a low offer - I was hoping that someone might have one that functions OK but is a bit rough bodywise, hence a lower price.
