Regrets

I don't usually do regrets, but I have parted with one lens that was a big mistake, I'll let you know which one when I've found another copy (if it ever happens)


I'm sure some of you have regrets over parting with a lens or two?

Only the DA 15mm and I bought another

If I need the cash I generally part with something I can find again relatively easily such as a current model from the line-up.

I've used the same tactic a few times, but have a few lenses that are special (to me) that I don't intend to part with. The F*300, FA*85 and FA*24 being my favourites

So come on spill the beans, what did you part with?

I've a few FA's I'd be reluctant to part with and a Sigma AF 24/2.8 that you'd have to pry from my cold dead fingers

I've actually had 3 FA*24's and sold them all, just didn't get on with 'em

It was my K 28mm f2 - I found it difficult to use because of manual focus and Green Button shooting, but the photos it produced were superb!

I was a bit sad after I parted with my A*85 as well - but the FA*85 more than made up for it.

It's a funny lens, I've seen quite a few comments from people who didn't get on with them (although my first copy was soft at wider apertures). But then again many people sing the praises of the A 50/1.2 - a lens I've owned twice and never got on with!

Now that's really hard to find, unless Peng has a couple stashed away he's willing to part with. Never owned one myself unfortunately.

I don't think there's one in Pengs Cave but you never know!

If you like using manual focus lenses and get the chance to pick up a K28/2 then don't hesitate.

An FA 135/2.8 and my biggest regret, an FA 100mm/2.8 Macro . . . twice, and still regretted it the second time.

Moved on from K series although very fine lenses they are, sold my K 18/3.5 and K 35/2 to Peng earlier this year IIRC. Only a couple or three left now and they'll go eventually. Not bought a lens in a very long time, just seemed to lose interest, even the K3 doesn't excite me

The FA 135/2.8 you'd have to pry that from my cold dead fingers also.

I've been looking for one for a couple of years. One sold yesterday for £420, too rich for me.

My Sigma 105 macro

I missed mine so much I had to get it back, a fine piece of glass I think everyone should own at some point.
Lens I regret....the 21ltd.

I was on the point of selling my Sigma 105 macro when I bought a Pentax DFA 100mm F2.8 WR macro and found it was sharper than the Siggy and also focusses closer. I stopped myself from doing this though because I love the Sigma for portraits and wedding shots - there is 'something' about this lens that screams 'quality' and I won't be selling it!

My biggest regret was selling my DA 16-45 when I bought a DA 17-70. I've now bought another one and this has confirmed how much I like this lens - it is my 'go to' landscape choice.
