The weather was mostly wet, but there were some periods of sun between the showers.
There are some more Shetland pictures on my flickr pages if you are interested, link is below.
I'm not long started with 'flickr', just experimenting and feeling my way at the moment, I'll see how it goes.
Passing the bottom part of Orkney, K10D + Pentax 17-70

Trondra, on Shetland, about half way between, Scalloway and Hamnavoe, again the 17-70,

Don't normally do "Wild-Life", but I liked the blue and yellow colours, plus it had a 'spot' on it's head, much prefer the 'imperfect', again the 17-70.

Look at the number plate, don't know if he's boasting or complaining.

"ericp", I really didn't do very much.
I had a number of pictures that were much the same, just chose the one that had the best highlights, on the left cheek, i.e. not 'blown-out'.
Converted to B&W with Apple's Aperture, and used the Red, Blue and Green sliders to get a image that seemed ok, not to contrasty and not too dull, then lifted the shadows on the right side of the face.
I could have done the same with PhotoShop Elements, which I usually use, but I just got Aperture recently so I'm trying to use it a bit more. I find you can make much more subtle changes in Aperture and I'm starting to find a lot more options that are open to me. I tended to be a bit more "Bang- Bang" with Photoshop Elements and everything came out in high saturation and high contrast, I think I'm learning a bit more 'reserve' with Aperture.
So, really didn't do too much. The picture I chose, wasn't too bad to start with, but being taken at he beach, the colour version, was quite contrasty, and had a lot of distracting colours, so I tried the B&W option and was pleased at the result, so I thought I would share it with everyone.

And I'm so glad to hear that other people have had a good experience with the lens.
I was going to go down the 'prime only' route, but the 17-70mm made me change that idea, as I thought that 17-70 would be a fantastic range if the quality was good, and so far I'm very happy.
