Grumpyguts : The Sigma 100-400 is going to give you better IQ than you are getting now but the 50-500 is better still ...... but not if you can't / don't want to carry it around !

IMO : Sell the 50-500 and get the 100-400 or a 60-250 + Tamron x1.4 or better still Pentax AFA x1.7.

Exactly what Peter said. A lovely photo though.

I'm still wavering on pulling the trigger on the 60-250 and although I've now dropped the *300 from the equation the only other option I'm considering now is this Tamron 100-300/4, supposedly a faster focuser than the Pentax due to the HSM and ultra sharp. It's a tad more expensive here than the 60-250 but adds a little reach (especially when paired with the AFA x1.70. Decisions, decisions !

I think what this thread goes to show is that one man's trash is another man's treasure !

I use my lenspen all the time, it's indispensable. Same goes for the cable release but less so the IR wireless version. However the grip has only seen the light of day a handful of times. And I have two whole cartons of copy Gorillapods in the study downstairs (a failed export attempt) !!

Raynox Macro adapter lens.

Bought and then got much better lenses shortly after. Was good for use on the kit lens and 50-200 but I didn't use them long.
Don't understand this one Tyr. If you bought a macro lens then the Raynox's are brilliant on top of the macro !

Example of 1 cm long caterpillars here (Raynox 250 on Tamron 90 Di) : -

Something must be afoot. It's a major cancellation at very short notice.
Especially with two new cameras to promote.

Not a good thing for photography in general. No doubt this will affect attendance and in turn there will be less people viewing the other manufacturers products.

I have the Chinese single version of this (and it is/was going to be in that package I mentioned a while back) ..... much cheaper and virtually identical. The double version has just arrived in the office too ... I'll pick that up today, both knock-offs of Black Rapids methinks, Whatever make you have they do a brilliant job.
Well I tried the double Chinese version of the Black Rapid out yesterday and it was ..... bloody great !

I walked around the Shanghai Botanical Garden and had the K7 with Tamron 90/2.8 on one and the K5 with Tamron BB 500mm on the other (and later the 55-300). I had a monopod screwed into the K5 too (the plate screws into the tripod base plate on the K5 but you can screw a mono / tripod into that - it worked beautifully. I walked around for 4 hours and not once did I feel any strain or neck-pain.

I was a bit conscious of the screw-in to begin with, constantly checking for tightness (it was never even a half turn loose) but that isn't a bad habit to get into I suppose ! Either the double or single will be going out with me any time I go shooting now.

In fact there were a group of Canon / Nikon shooters there with their camouflaged 500/4s & 600/4s and they not only loved this idea but even knew about and loved Pentax's 'Catch in Focus' setting - really surprised me because you hardly ever see Pentax in China.

Far better to shoot RAW and covert to mono later, far more control.
As the man said. Do it in PP - it's quick and easy and you have far more control (again can still have the shot in colour if you find you prefer it that way) !

Is it a bed-sheet or curtain ?

I could see that as printed material.
