The greatest (car) show on earth ! Unbelievably huge (up to 1km in each direction) it has become the #1 place to launch and display your new & latest cars. Not surprising considering when the rest of the world's car market was contracting China's was expanding at over 100% a year ! This year has slowed though ... only a 45% increase expected

Still, the scenes are crazy and shooting cars, models or the environment is made difficult from the sheer volume of people attending - 160,000 last Sunday (opening day) alone !

Anyway more of the cars and environment to come in other threads - this one however is for eye candy !

Thanks for pointing that out Hefty otherwise I'd have missed it.

Excellent shots Benji. My daughter models and seems to be very pro-active in offering ideas on a shoot ..... do your models offer the same or do you prefer to control the shoot completely yourself (I notice there were two creative directors listed yourself +1).

Thanks for posting that link Don - excellent read and very informative, especially re. production costs. Even though it seems he may have reached the wrong conclusion in terms of market performance.

The K5 has stimulated the Pentax APS-C market to such an extent that the talk of FF has dramatically receded (along with the introduction of the 645D) compared to the level pre-Photokina 2010. It also shows that Pentax engineers were not working on FF but on the K5.

re. FF lenses, whilst the FA* & DA* ranges are still in production the most recent completely new lense is APS-C only (DA 35) though it's inexpensive enough to possibly write off in terms of FF. Although there is the upgraded release of the DA*100 which is FF and now WR, though it wouldn't have made sense to make any changes to it other than WR which stimulates sales whilst being cheap to implement.

Personally I thought the most interesting segment of the article was the short comment on pixel density and then I was musing on how manufacturers could possibly reduce this and so offer both a wide and a long version of the same camera with different FF sensors to enable longer lenses to function as they do on crop factor sensors !

Your poll is flawed and will reveal nothing.

I have UV/Skylight filters to fit almost every lens I own and use them selectively such as around salt water or abrasive dust. So I use them and I don't use them.

I have both the K7 and the K5 and whilst I love my K7 the K5 is miles and miles and miles and miles ... ahead.

Of course if you use flash exclusively then the hugely extended DR of the K5 over the K7 maybe won't be of any interest to you. And of course if you don't shoot sports / birds then the superior AF & higher FPS will be of no value.

If you shoot exclusively in a studio at ISO100 - 400 or in very good daylight then the incredible low noise of the K5 is just not worth having so then again there is no point in upgrading.

Well, it's kinda funny that no one mentioned next D700 (D800?) with FF sensor will easily beat k-5. Some people just want/need the best gear and that's why FF's are there.
I've posted this before but it seems relevant (again !) :

DxO results – All Sensors.
Best Sensor Overall : 5th Pentax K5 (ahead of D3, D700, 1Ds Mk III), 9th Nikon D7000 (ahead of Canon 5DII).
Best Landscape Dynamic Range : 1st Pentax K5 (14.1 EVs) 2nd Nikon D7000 (13.7 EVs).
Best Sports (low light) Dynamic Range : 13th Nikon D7000 (ISO 1167) 14th Pentax K5 (ISO 1162)
Best Portrait (colour depth) : 11th Pentax K5 (23.7 bits) 15th Nikon D7000 (23.5 bits).

Notice the K5 has a higher rated sensor than the D700 & blows it away for Landscape DR at ISO 100

Of course it's not all about the sensors - there is so much more to consider, however just because a camera is FF doesn't necessarily make it better !

1. Yellow Hammer
2. Mistle Thrush (a slightly bigger bird, with bolder spotting, than the Song Thrush but very similar).

Very nice set.

#2 is gorgeous - just proving it doesn't have to be so close or so sharp you can see the feather detail to be impressive. The bird singing and the bokeh make the shot.

Usually don't like centreing too much but having played around with it for a minute that still looks the best position to me.
