This has been covered loads of times in this forum and in magazine reviews etc... I'm surprised you haven't come across any opinions on the subject! To save you the time and bother of doing your own research the answer is 'YES'.

I am currently using both a K-7 and K-5
If you don't shoot over ISO 800 then I would personally say no. The AF is still not significantly better and 1.5fps makes very little difference.
If however you do use over ISO 800 then the K-5 walks all over the K-7 sensor wise.
Can't see Pentax even announcing a new DSLR for at least 12 months.
No equipment list here but thanks for taking an interest. My Flickr

Is it just the high ISO that's better? I switched to a K5 from a K20, which as I understand it produced broadly comparable images to the K7. I've noticed a massive jump in the dynamic range with the new camera at any ISO - there is so much more detail obtainable in the shadows. Given that I seem to often shoot in high contrast conditions, the K5 would be worth it for me for this reason alone.
I've no experience of the K7, but the K5 produces substantially better images than the K20.

As I said, the K-5 walks all over the K-7 sensor wise and for the people that need/want the better ISO/DR then it is well worth the extra.
Just a personal opinion of someone that uses both cameras, others may (and will) disagree.

I've got a K-5 and a K-7 as back-up and having used the K-5 since January I will probably in the near future sell the K-7 as in my opinion there is a big difference in IQ, I've found there is much more detail with the K-5 and images with high ISO's are much improved.
I am very pleased with the results from the K-5 so far and is worth the extra pennies

Judging by that lens line-up, you've also got bags of money !?
So the few 'extra pennies' won't be felt !
