Shanghai Auto Show - The Models

The greatest (car) show on earth ! Unbelievably huge (up to 1km in each direction) it has become the #1 place to launch and display your new & latest cars. Not surprising considering when the rest of the world's car market was contracting China's was expanding at over 100% a year ! This year has slowed though ... only a 45% increase expected

Still, the scenes are crazy and shooting cars, models or the environment is made difficult from the sheer volume of people attending - 160,000 last Sunday (opening day) alone !

Anyway more of the cars and environment to come in other threads - this one however is for eye candy !

Some eye candy indeed.

I note that there are a few soft focus shots here.
No's. 4, 9,10, 11,14,20 & 21 appear to be not so sharp? Did you PP any shots?

I'm curious as to why you didn't use the hi ISO capability of the K5.

Number 20 with some PP

Thanks Yves !

I appreciate you commenting K10D. Yes, a couple are soft - probably about 1/2 were shot at f2.8 as in all cases I was trying to get isolation, however if you got close you were jostled (I tried but it really bugged me !), stand well back (as I did in many cases - maybe 10-15m back) and it became easier to get a decent shot - if there weren't so many people between you.

This link will give you an idea of the chaos in front of the top car models ! link

I took around 500 shots that day and have culled them down to maybe 300 - still too many shots to PP extensively unless they are for actual publication (they are not) so I just used a pre-set for most of these. Not one has had any noise reduction.

Most have had just a little sharpening (eyes, mouth) as for portraits I prefer them just a little softer and not to show all the spots & pimples (guess the girls do too )

I didn't use the high ISO as all were taken with flash.

Nice job on #20 BTW !

I'm glad I can sit at home and look at your photos rather than be in that melee. As pretty as the girls are, the crowd would be a living hell to me. I have zero interest in cars as well!

Stunning models (I'm glad you showed us the girls rather than the cars) and very well photographed.

Shame on you Frogfish you have nearly ruined a few of those photo's by getting bits of cars in with the pretty ladies

I have to admit that seeing the models is more interesting than the cars, whilst I will photo anything including cars, mechanical wotsits and bits of engines etc the ladies make much better set of photo's
K10D, K5 plus plenty of clueless enthusiasm.

Ha Ha - Thanks Stuey !

I do have some car shots to come when I get around to processing them, after deletions I'm still left with over 300 car shots (against 70 model shots) to go through.

Some lovely shots here. I can imagine how difficult it must have been to produce pictures of this quality.
Best wishes,

Andrew

Thank you Andrew - challenging is probably the best way to describe the conditions (as the link to the crowds above show) !
