If they made a proper wide angle pancake (the DA21 just isn't small enough for me tbh) that'd end up being my walkabout lens.
15mm?
Not quite a pancake though, is it? Hell, it's bigger than the 21
It's tiny ! Well it is to me as I've got no other lens than comes anywhere near as small (maybe the 43/1.9 but then that's still larger), anything smaller and you'd have a hell of a job using it with MF / quick shift.

I tried the FA* and the DA* side by side. The FA* was fractionally faster focusing (no doubt here) however the DA* is fractionally sharper. What swung it for me though was not the WR but the near silent focusing, the FA* is rather noisy and probably not the best for birds within close proximity that could be disturbed by the sound.

I know that's not the F* but near enough.

I've had a P30, a mz50, an istDl2 (all of which were stolen), a k200d and a k7, a P30t and a Z70. None have skipped a beat! So my general perception of Pentax products is of reliability.

On the other hand, I wouldn't want to diminish the problems people have had with the k5, which are clearly well above the norm.
But are they ? Take the stain issue out of the equation (and maybe blame Sony as well as Pentax for that ) and what are you left with ? More than the industry 'standard' of around 5% ?

My first Pentax was a K7 - zero issues, in my K5 I had a main board failure, quickly changed and normal service resumed. I'd happily take a K5 any day of the week - and if it has any issues get them resolved - just to be able to shoot with this wonderful camera.

Robbie, Mike & Chris. It's not strictly true that they feel DA* zooms were forged in Hell but they definitely prefer primes. Here's the survey I ran over both forums a while back : link

Ask anyone wearing glasses to tip their heads down slightly - no reflections.

Nothing under 16mm & I am rather surprised my Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 and 100-300mm f4 lenses aren't in there .. perhaps it's time they went.
I'd be really interested to know on what basis you chose the 60-250 over the 70-200 and especially 100-300.

I was discussing litigation with a USA client just a couple of days ago .... what I didn't realise, and it's easy to understand the plethora of weird and wonderful litigations in the USA once you know this, is that a) losing plaintiffs don't need to pay the other party's costs and b) many lawyers work on a commission % only basis so by throwing as much mud as they can they'll win enough to pay the bills and then some.

Why the 18-55 over the 16-50 John ? WR over a fantastic lens ?
Ummm, the DA* 16-50mm is a WR lens as well, its just not in its name. All of the DA* range of lenses are weather resistant (WR).
Yeah I know that .. brain fart. Guess I was just so shocked at seeing John select the kit lens over the 16-50 when I know he has both !
