From the srs link given on another thread, i found this link

Now, ive read about these & am very tempted as they seem to offer up the chance for some very 'creative' images. Anyone used one? Any good? Any tips?

Just a thought. Yet again, whilst flicking through the 'Gallery' pages of this weeks Amateur Photographer, i see a distinct lack of Pentax entries. Almost exclusively the pictures shown are from Canon & Nikon cameras. Now, before buying my K200, i tried out a few of the Canon/Nikon/Sony offerings and just didn't 'feel' right with them. My Pentax rocks! - So, why do none seem to appear in this publication? (Or am i completely missing the point in a 'If you have to ask, then you don't know' kinda way? lol )

Mine came with the same as above, but i also snagged a deal on the tamron 70-300.
Would love to get a decent macro & w/a lens next. Just waiting on a 28-80mm that i'm going to keep specific for portrait work.

I'm off to a fireworks event in a couple of weeks & am looking for a remote release for my new camera. I'm new to the whole Planet Pentax and haven't found one that states compatible with the K200 yet....ive seen lists including k100 and i assume these will be ok?

HI guys,
Firstly, i'm brand new to this forum as well as brand new to DSLR and Pentax - so i'm still finding my way as such.
I'd love to start doing more portrait stuff to try & make the most of my new best friend (Shh! don't tell my girlfriend i said that!!)
There's a few bits & bobs that ive read regarding 'sweet spot' for this type of work and most seem to go for the 75-100mm mark?
So, although i have the standard 18-55 kit lens with my K200, does anyone think that this lens may do a decent job as a 'specialist' portrait lens for the likes of me that operate on a budget to make a strinbean look obese? link

Bearing in mind the 1.5 (?) conversion...this makes 42-120 equivalent?
Yes, indeed.

You need to do the conversion the other way to find the appropriate lengths on digital. 75 - 100 translates as 50 - 67.

But that is appropriate for portraits only. If, like Duroo, you are planning to shoot more than just the face, you need to be able to go wider. So 18-55 is pretty good. It's long enough for portraits, and wide enough for figure or groups.

Cheers for that. Well, i reckon i'll make that my first specialist lens purchase tonight then - VERY much on a learning curve and miniscule budget so nowhere near some of you guys, but i have some lights/stands/diffusers & background sheets with stands, so i reckon i'll give it a go. Now, where's that girlfriend of mine? "Hey, sweetheart, put these on & stand over there!"

Well it was a very odd conversation involving mountain bikes, divorces and nurses uniforms so, perhaps it was whilst reflecting on this T.M.I moment that made her more pliable & amenable

Anyway, a great piece of kit so far. Once i get to grips with it i'll brave the gallery
In the meantime, glad to find this place & if anyone wants me to work my magic at their bank? - i only charge a small commission

...after the agony of 'research' over the last few months, my bank manager was kind enough to say: "Of course!" when i asked for some extra money last weekend - et voila - one brand new Pentax K200D with 18-55 & 70-300 lenses. Even threw in a set of those new Lithium batteries & a memory card
Anyway, thought i'd pop in to say "I'm here" after a couple of years in the 'bridge' world.
Looking forward to learning in a whole new world
