I like being different having Pentax but would draw the line at a Skoda
The only Skoda I have ever owned was the live centre on my wood lathe

Current Skodas are part of the Volkswagen Group of Companies an the Skoda Rapid wheelbase is based on the Volkswagen Golf.

So a modern Skoda is still safe to purchase like a Pentx

I've been a bit slow off the mark getting the way the Q works. Clearly with the K-adapter astronomic (literally!) focal lengths can be achieved. So for those birders that used to digiscope (not me) could this give comparable results to their sometimes very good old compacts/swarovski combos?
I bought a Q (but no Q lenses !) specifically for this purpose. I'm afraid as a birder it just doesn't work as the camera shake induced blur when hand-held just destroys the image. I tested it with a Zeiss 85/1.4 and the Tamron 90/2.8 to give 467.5 / 495mm, amongst other lenses. Didn't even bother to try it on the DA*300mm (2,650mm) !

There is one poster in particular on the other forum who has some superb shots at very long range but steadying the combination is not easy and it has to be used on a solid tripod and with a x3 optical screen magnifier.

Not a viable option for birding but produces superb moon and macro shots.
Pinholecam right? A Pentaxian from Singapore. Baronla fro USA has also done it with a 300mm lens too.

I purchased the adapter from Jinfinance from eBay and it is called the RJ K to Q adapter. Fully manual and with a tripod mount.

I have tried it with the DFA100mm F2.8WR and the FA43mm F1.9 Limited.

There is a post I link from a friend who uses the Q with the adapter and DFA100mm lens

Hi Guys,

This link is from a Pentaxian in sunny Singapore.

It is a very good review of a user really using it and testing to its limits.

Bright colours are mainly for the Japanese market as they love their coloured cameras.

I am in sunny Singapore and my K5 came with zero shutter count too. And yes, when you move the camera from side to side, there is a feeling of the sensor moving inside. It is very normal.

Cheers..... Enjoy your new toy and take more photos with it.

If the batteries re fully charged and you put them in, they will have the mirror flop issue. This is where you press any button and it sounds as though you are taking a photo.

Take the battery out for about 10 to 20 seconds and put it back in. That should solve the problem.
