Why not get the K30? K50 was just announced and I don't think a view sample will be out so soon.

K30's video is capable enough as I have tested it and I can record for a good 15 minutes without he sensor heating up, unlike the K5 which heated up after 5 minutes of video even in an air conditioned room.

I say get the K30.

There is a thread in Pentaxforums by Adam on the settings if you have a K7. I had a K7 and used the settings and I could take photos up to ISO 3200 without that much noise.

I then upgraded to a K5 and now use a K30.
Do you have a link?
Managed to find it:

I think I am more tolerant with noise and will try to dig thru my collection for a sample with ISO 3200.

Use Q with 01, 02 and 06 for everyday photos and you will loove the results.

I used to own the K5 and I sold it to get the K30. The AF of the K30 is much faster then the K5 which tends to hunt in low light. The K30's AF was quicker to focus and its output is sharper.

This is a bit off-topic, but I doubt whether the K30 has better AF than the K-5II variants. If Axel is buying a new K-5 it would be a K-5II, not a Mk1.

If he is not covered by household insurance and has a budget, then the K30 is anther great camera. I have both the K5 Mk I and the K30 so I know.

Why not get the K30 and lenses like the DA18-135, the DA40XS, the 55-300 as replacement body and lenses instead of the alpha 77? The k30 has better AF than the K5 and is cheaper and uses the Li-Ion as well as 4AA batteries.

The 3rd party battery that I bought for my K30 was branded Ittou and it would last as long as the original. I also carry a set of 4 AA Lithium for emergencies.
