This is a stunning lens made of metal and glass and is of very high quality. It is like a stack of primes, is very sharp and has beautiful contrast. One of the best Pentax lenses, compatible with FF (film and dslr). Glasses are perfectly clean and clear; no fungus, no haze on the glass. Auto focus and power zoom ring work very smoothly. There are a few marks on the silver painted barrel. Comes with both original caps, original hood, tripod bracket and original purchase data (Japan).

The smc FA* zoom 80mm~200mm f/2.8 lens is a moderate to long telephoto lens flexible enough to use in a variety of situations including sports and portrait photography. It provides a maximum aperture setting of 2.8 throughout the zoom range and incorporates a high-refraction extra low dispersion (ED) glass element to produce a high-resolution, high-contrast image with true-to-life color rendition. Like all PENTAX lenses, this lens features smc-coating to maximize light transmission and produce sharp, high-contrast images while minimizing flare and ghost imaging. It has power zoom.

Same story as the Sigma 120-300mm in Pentax mount, could take a while before these lenses are released for Pentax DSLR's (if ever). Luckily I have the Sigma 180mm f3.5 already, won't hold my breathe for the f2.8 version.

Bought the 10-17mm in a set, intendend to sell it but after I got it repaired and used it a few times I knew this was a lens to keep for a long time.

Buy this great lens already, it's quite usable as ultrawide lens also.

The Bigma (50-500) is a better lens optically than the 150-500 OS HSM but you will miss the OS for sure when you use the lens at the long end. The newer 50-500 OS HSM is not a better lens optically than the 150-500 OS HSM but has a somewhat longer range that could be usefull if you need the range at the short end.

My advice would be to check which focal length you use the most with the 150-500mm. If you use the range 400-500mm a lot I would recommended to keep the 150-500mm. A fast prime is better optically but worthless if you lack the range you need in most circumstances.

I use the 150-500mm a lot and I don't want to miss the range at the long end. Most of the time I use the range between 400-500mm for either nature photography or capturing action sports like kitesurfing. With a 300mm I would lose too much range for smaller animals.
