I sometimes take RAW + JPEG as JPG files can be reviewed quickly on almost any computer with a card reader or USB slot (if you have the cable with you).

Handy if you are at someones house and they don't have picture editing software with a RAW plug-in or Pentax Photo Browser installed.

The only thing i think that is different is the Samsung gx20 doesnt have the enhanced dynamic range thing where the pentax k20d does.
Ain't sure if that really effects RAW though?
I can be very wrong about that
Either way, for 'high dynamic range' there is some very good, low cost, HDR software available. I personally like 'Dynamic Photo HDR'.

A quick update:

I noticed that my K10D was indeed 'back focussing' and have used the 'Russian' software (with firmware 1.30 on my K10D) to get into debug mode and correct this.

The English language version of the software does not appear to install correctly - when I tried to run the program, the .exe file was missing.

However, the 1.1u non-English (I presume Russian?) version installed and worked perfectly and in accordance with the tutorial.

Hope this helps if anyone is struggling to get this working.

No disagreement from me, except that I'll make sure that I buy multi-coated (pro) filters in future.

I have stopped using my uncoated UV and skylight filters, as they cause ghosting (especially from bright light sources).

I use a hood for protection now!

Yep, got mine yesterday - definitely fits on the bottom!

I've been wanting one for ages... This is a good piece of kit, and doesn't add *too* much weight to the camera.

Thanks Rees, I am enjoying it. It's a pleasure to use and I'm impressed by the sharpness.

Like iceblinker, I already had a Pentax film camera and lenses. And like Anvh, it was between a Nikon D80 and the K10D. In the end, the in-body SR, weather sealing and the metal chassis (I didn't like the idea of an all-plastic camera) swung it in favour of Pentax.

In between film and K10D, I also had an Olympus 'bridge' camera - it almost put me off digital photography for ever...

We have both cameras (K10D and GX10) - the four-way controller really isn't loose on either camera, i.e. no 'float' at all.

: How does one define 'float'? I take it to be where the controller ring is loose and would rattle if the camera was gently shaken...
