GX-20 Price

I went into Jacobs in Oxford Street yesterday to scout out Samsung/ Pentax Nikon or Canon in various shops.
Spoke to sales guy who showed me a GX-20. Looked OK, price £499 body only he told me from the computer. Sounds reasonable, I said, I'll take it. When I got to the till, I saw a sign in the back display cabinet 'Special Deal, Samsung GX-20 + kit lens 18-55 £349'. So I asked about this deal. Salesmen says he didn't know about it, it's now finished and takes the notice down from the cabinet.
I then notice a deal on the GX-20 body - £299. He takes the notice for this down too. 'I'll take a raincheck on that' I say, seeing which way prices are going. He walks away up the counter quickly and starts to serve someone else.
Just out of interest, I go up to another assistant, a young woman. 'How much is a GX-20 body?', I ask. 'Special offer, £299', she replies.
I buy it....
Two points I'd make here. First, if I hadn't chanced to see the display cab notice, I'd have paid £200 more for the body - so caveat emptor!
Second, that's a hell of a good price! The next best was Calumet in Wardour Street at £479.99 but no stock.

Nice one Lemmy, I've just rung Jacobs Liverpool Branch and they said they had one, but sent it down to Oxford St., so I've rung Oxford St. and they still have just one left and he said the box was a bit marked because it had been sent from another branch. Bit of trouble communicating with the man I spoke to, but as long as he's took my details correctly they should be mailing it to me, keeping my fingers crossed that he doesn't ring back. £299 + £8 Post.

From other discussions in the forum it seems that there has just been a run on Pentax battery grips at Jessops, now there will be a run on GX-20s at Jacobs....

I have just called Oxford Jacobs and she said they have 1 left and has put my name on it to reserve it until tomorrow.

I wonder if they are saying they only have 1 left to stop people buying a few or is mine in fact the same one as yours Shim?

I don't think so I got a reply to my email at 14:15hrs confirming that they had taken the address down correctly.

It's possible that all GX20's within Jacob's are being sent to Oxford St. to be sold off.

Just phoned Jacobs Oxford Street. They have 'a few' of the GX-20's at £299, but 'they're selling fast'!

Well mine is on reserve and am going to collect tomorrow.

Whilst your waiting, you can download a copy of the manual and the latest software from here, plus v1.01 Firmware which probably won't be needed.

Do you think the GX20 are alot better than the GX10?

(just toying with the idea of keeping my GX10 i just bought and flogging the GX20)

The GX20 will be the much better camera, just as the Pentax K20D is much better than the K10D.

Keeping the GX10 would be a huge step backwards.
