It's the absolute ideal all rounder. 50mp is too much and really for the specialized pro - if you want that then you have the 645Z anyway. 36mp is plenty and gives good noise performance. There is of course an argument for fewer mps for higher iso shooters. A 24mp (or lower) would be a sensible proposition and we might well see one. The pixel shift mode will enhance resolution too where the scene suits. Ideal in my view, couldn't hope for more in a camera.

Aside from the obvious differences, which are price and the fact that all lenses cover APS-C.

Well the full frame has a lower pixel density so I am sure that it will be top notch image quality. K3 noise always put me off, which is why I chose the K5iis instead. The K1 has the same pixel density as the K5.

The converse is that the K3 has greater reach for macro and telephoto.

The K1 looks like it has improved SR and the pixel shift is an advancement as it can cope with a little movement.

How much better will AF be? Don't know,

K1 for me, hands down.

I was comparing SRS prices. I see no reason not to buy it with the K1 body at the bundle price rather than separately. It will come down to similar to the Nikkon 14-24 and I think that will be reasonable as I can't see why the Nikkor could be significantly more expensive to produce that the Tamron. The difference is that Nikon users have the Tamron alternative whereas the Tamron version won't be available for Pentax. I have no doubt that it will be world class as it already is. The big if for me isn't the price it's the lack of a filter holder for it. Edit - The Lee SW150 appears to fit the Tamron, so should fit the Pentax. OK, an extra few hundred quid. Count me in.

Very impressive camera, very well priced and I'm eager to get my hands on one, I do have a little moan though and that's the lenses.

- The 15-30 f2.8 is way overpriced, way way way overpriced.
- The 15-30 is not an * lens
- The 24-70 is not a * lens

In fact, the only one of the new lenses for this camera that is a star lens is the 70-200.

For me, it just shows a little inconsistency, a little attention to detail lost that just spoils the shine a little. They may all perform like stars but if they do they should be called stars too!
I don't see why the 15-30 shouldn't be a star lens. It is the Tamron rebadged with WR and different coatings. It is very well regarded indeed against the Nikon 14-24. However the Tamron is £850, the Pentax version £1,370. Is the same lens + Pentax WR + Pentax coatings - vibration reduction - Tamron coatings worth £500? The consumer will decide. It seems to me that the strategy is clear - Pentax is offering an amazing value camera body in the hope that the profits will be generated from the lenses. But I think I'd rather have it that way round as I can see the body holding its value and the deals coming on lenses. There are limited other ff options below 30mm - a Zeiss 21 if you can find one. So it's not a bad strategy. I think I may have to stitch at 31mm.

That was going to be my choice and I tried it a few times in the shop. I couldn't get to like it - bar of soap handling and I didn't like the controls or menu options. I bought the GRDIII really as a try out with a view to selling it on and I thought it was excellent. It convinced me to go for the GR, which beats the RX100 hands down on image quality. Different propositions, zoom and fixed. But my advice would be to handle first.

GRD - GRDIV, not APSC. GR-GRII APSC. Some street togs like the smaller sensor for the greater depth of field. Bit noisy but that's ok in street, even welcome.

Whatever happened to Upton Park. Thieves got into the trophy room last week and stole the carpet.

It's still a great street camera. That price is too high. I have one to sell cheap if you would like one.

It depends what focal length suits you.

The Sigma 24mm f2.8 'superwide' is excellent across the frame.

On a budget then the M28mm f3.5 is very good.

I like the K30mm f2.8 since it gives a lovely, natural perspective.
