The good news on my vertical banding problem is that it was fixed (although at the fourth attempt). And the camera has since behaved perfectly, until tonight. When taking a photo it makes a chugging noise when the shutter is open - I noticed it on a long exposure. I haven't touched any of the menu settings. And it produces an image with ghosting. I've taken a video and a sample image. Any ideas would be appreciated:

I would say they are Osteospermums, aka Cape Daisy - a native of South Africa.

Not at all. The reason I'm posting my photos now is to learn and to get advice on improvements.

Your comment has resulted in a better shot so thanks.

Good point - maybe I should sneak along and remove a bit more render to find out.

I have the 52BB.

I did change the colour on the butterfly shot. That probably wasn't a good idea is I am heavily red green (inter alia) colour blind.

Is this better?

A very good reason - lack of skill. I was going to reshoot that one yesterday too, but there was a large white van in the way. So another time.

Here's some of my favourite flower shots from the last few days taken in the field behind my house. Tamron SP 90:

Thanks for all your comments. I'm very much a beginner and I wouldn't have taken pictures like that without the inspiration I've gained from this forum (or put another way, nicking other people's ideas).

You'd think that the brick arch would be above an opening, but it's not -it's only a couple of feet above the pavement.

I was really pleased with the Boucherie shot. It's not posed, I'm not that smart. I wasn't happy with my shooting angle from the set on Staurday so I went back yesterday after shopping. The kids were in tow and just standing next to me. I only noticed the reflection when I loaded the photos to the computer.
