Bit picky I know, but BST has finished in the UK, by the closing date of this comp. Should it be GMT?
6pm or Bacon Sandwich Time, whichever comes first.

This theme is designed to encourage participation. I'm looking for a photo of anything that is within five minute's walk of your front door.

The usual rules apply. The image has to be taken with a Pentax camera or Samsung DSLR equivalent and be shot within the duration of this competition. Please include camera details and shooting time and date with your image.

The competition will close at 6pm BST on Wednesday 2nd November.

Thanks Glyn for the comp and excellent judging as always and to other entrants. A very disappointing participation again. I find these get your camera out competitions more interesting than plucking something from the archives. I wonder why interest is at an all time low.

I'll happily answer your questions and Geordie01 too. The simple answer is I have a variety of bits and bobs which can screw together in umpteen different combinations. It's a Heath Robinson approach rather than a technical one. I'm still looking for the best combination, I have made some progress but the shots aren't yet good enough. I'll start a different thread later on once I've had a chance to take a few more shots, noting what bits I used. For me it's not about some shots being better than others, I can easily find photos which are miles better than mine. Father Ted takes the best Moon shots on this site. It's the process of photographing the night sky and observing that I enjoy more than the results.

Not really. Because that Moon was close to full there wasn't much detail to be had. The fuller the Moon gets the more flat and washed out it looks. But I've just been having a play and I know think I can do much better than I have up to now. The pp makes a huge difference too and I keep making improvements so that one could be a lot better.

I'd be happy to answer your questions if you could put them in a civil manner and I have discussed the set up in other threads but actually I can't be bothered to respond to that continually aggressive tone.

It was a thanks for the processing tips that was really the point of my post. It is taken with the K35mmf3.5 through a telescope eyepiece. It's about as good as I can get with a single shot and all of the Moon in view. There is some softness towards the edge and I think that has to do with the setup and not atmospheric haze. I'd like to do it better and the next step will be to stitch together a series of closer views, which in theory should produce a decent result.
