I've been saying this for a while. The camera business is tough, damned tough and it will get tougher, In five years time we will see something quite different, There will be casualties and there will be consolidation, It is difficult to know who is best placed. Out and out camera businesses or those where the camera business forms a significant part of revenues are particularly vulnerable. Pentax is interesting - it is basically in the Ricoh financial statements under 'other', which could well be a very good thing. Might we see Olympus go bust - easily. Panasonic will snap them up. Might we see the demise of Nikon? - they are trying their best to shore up profits by shifting more focus to the medical business.

There will be interesting times. What is absolutely required is innovation and some kind of insulation from a rapidly (very rapidly) shrinking marketplace. I think Fuji are currently doing all the right things. Ricoh's imaging division could well be just fine. There wiil be some exciting product announcements soon, there is an opportunity there. I'd certainly put more money on Pentax at the moment than Nikon.

Noone has yet explained the advantage of reducing the maximum image size on a photography site. Will you please?

Thoroughly enjoyable viewing and a set that sums you up nicely. The Mrs and the dog just has something about it.

Very enjoyable and quirky, which is good. I find the first strangely fascinating as do I the shoes. The dog is hilarious.

Congratulations Andy, it's a lovely image of an unusual feature. I didn't have time at Christmas to get in touch for any photo jaunts but next time. BTW, if you haven't already then you should pop in to Finn Hopson's new photo gallery next to the i360 construction.

Really excellent. It's a shame we can only appreciate them at such small sizes. The long tailed tit is just sublime.

I don't know how you conclude none. I certainly have - my townscape in my retrospective is 36megapixels so comparable to a Nikon D810.

However there is an obvious problem with stitching - a turbulent sea for instance.

For me lenses are more important. I see the need to use the FA31mm as a 31mm lens as a reason in itself for a Pentax ff.

And to the right of that article is a list of most popular cameras which shows the Nikon D750 going great guns. As we are seeing a convergence in prices between top end APSC and lower end full frame then I think the larger format is a market segment not to be ignored.
