Agreed. The point is that with the expansion of the range that we are seeing there is something for most of us. Further APSC models will be released of course. And I'm sure we'll get a choice of full frames to suit varying requirements too. It seems to me that Ricoh are now concentrating on the traditional strengths of Pentax . You can't please all of the people all of the time so it would be really difficult to compete in all areas of the marketplace - against some of the mirrorless alternatives out there for example.

The K-ff and a Ricoh GR with a limited zoom range please and that will be all I'll need forever.

Very good, The only thing I don't really like with these kind of shots (tried a few myself but not up to your standards) is the patterns made by the bright bits of sky that are always difficult to avoid in the woods. For that reason I'm less keen on the likes of 8. I really like 2,4 and 10.

Fair point but since very many Pentaxians have been looking inter alia for a proper home for their FALtds (first and second place in the greatest ever Pentax lens competition) it would be pretty shoot yourself in the foot to tease that has finally arrived and then not to support the lenses. Unless the FALtds have been reinvented with lens motors. But I can't see it happening.

Likewise to support DA lenses with a crop mode and then make them manual focus only. Won't happen.

Well no they can't do that. If the image circle isn't big enough then all you can do is magnify it with the 1.4 converter. But you lose light and I'm sure it wasn't conceived for use with zooms.

The prototype has an FA31mm attached to it.

Not including screwdrive would be like training your thoroughbred for years, turning up for the National on Red Rum then shooting him.

I think many DA lenses will work well on full frame. Indeed, all of the DA primes from 35mm (except the 35macro) are believed to be full frame compatible - some might show some slight vignetting but that's no biggie.

You still might find with the wider primes that whilst you get vignetting you might still get say 24mp out of the 36mp sensor rather than having to crop down to the 16mp APSC equivalent. The same might be true of the zooms. Not ideal but plenty usable to start with since the full frame lenses will be reassuringly expensive. Ricoh will be working hard on a full range of zooms.

There will be plenty of users for whom APSC is plenty. The K3 is currently £600 - that's a lot of camera for the money. The full frame options will be expensive, that's normal and the point of full frame is that you will concentrate on the one or two lenses to cover your specialism. However, for the general shooter then full frame is a very attractive option because of the vast back catalogue of compatible lenses.

And because quality is now so good then the budget conscious can stay five years behind the game and profit from the used market.

There's something for everyone. What's not to like?

It seems that they have designed a camera just for me, I'm sure many others feel the same. This is excellent, it looks like Ricoh have got it spot on.

Didn't the 645D take about five years from announcement to fruition......!!
The first lenses are ready and available for pre-order. They would not release lenses and then have massive wait for the body.

Furthermore the lenses must have clearly been thouroughly tested and therefore I suggest the body is very well advanced.

I think you will get your expert opinion once there is a full frame body. Then you will see examples to your heart's content. Shouldn't be long now.

You would place all your chips on a company whose profits have fallen 20% since last year.
