I have seen top class images taken with Pentax DSLR's. The tools are certainly good enough.

I would say that the more expansive the landscape the more a longer focal length works. My favoured length is probably 24mm on the K5, so 35mm equivalent full frame. I took the DA12-24 and a few longer primes on a break to the Costa Brava but the 12-24 never came off the camera and I used it throughout its range.

Stitching can be an excellent option but the way I like to do landscape there are plenty of situations where it wouldn't make up for a wider lens, for example to capture some movement in water.

There is no right way, just options and preferences. I think it will take a little time for you to discover your style. Exploring the 18-55 kit lens is probably the best start.

I tried it further with the Q but I just couldn't get on with it. I can focus better manually by eye.

I have the toy wide which came as a freebie but I've never used it. I have never seen any decent results from either of the toy lenses. I just don't get the fixed f7.1. I have kept it pending the release of a decent wide. I might use it for faux lomo one day.

I can get higher magnification than that but image quality suffers so I haven't shared any results.

It's selling well in the UK too. No surprise at that price it's great.

True, but that only works if there are enough early adopters. In the case of the Q and the K01 there weren't and the price had to come down (I would wager) to more than Pentax wanted in order to stimulate demand and create a product reputation.

A successful price creaming strategy will show a gradual decline in the selling price over time. You will find it with the K5, where Pentax got it spot on. In the case of the Q and K01 then you will find that the price curves resemble a fall from a cliff and that indicates a failure to exploit the market optimally.

I opened my mind to the Q when the price came down to what is now more than reasonable. In fact I think it's a bit too cheap. At the original price it just didn't make sense. I don't think the buying public got it wrong with their view of the product I think that Pentax got it wrong with their view of what the public was prepared to pay for it. That's why the next generation Q is a cheaper construction, so there is a greater margin for the place in the market where it was always destined to settle.

I'm going to Spain on Monday. I could make sure it gets there OK.

You can pay that website merchant £237 and your lens may or may not get delivered. Looking at the overwhelmingly negative reviews from other customers who have parted with their money and received nothing I would have my doubts.

I think it's unfair to quote prices from these scam outlets.
