Nice day for it, though I was half expecting some shots of a very cramped discount bedding shop. Some potential for a light HDR on that shot I think.

Interesting shots there, I was at Arley last Sunday for the classic car show, those water lilies (if that's what they are) were still in bud then and the overcast weather wasn't helping.

I was just looking for an excuse to call it "Oh No! Pacman drowned!"

I see what you're doing with the 'juxtaposition' - nice natural scene with a dirty great van dumped in it - but I think it would have been better if it had been a rusty wreck that was part of the scene rather than a roadworthy one. Not sure the HDR had very much effect in picture 1 though it's hard to say without seeing it 'before' - it doesn't jump out as being a HDR image.

No need to apologise for location, part of the fun is trying to find a decent photo wherever you are, though I'd imagine the Lake District is not short of subject matter.

A selection from the Gold Cup. It's hard to get the angles for some of these without trackside access, but there are some corners that are pretty good even from on the embankment. I've always tried to shoot motorsport on the highest shutter speeds, but of course you get no impression of movement like that so I was experimenting this weekend with manual control, sometimes to good effect. As always I have many very similar photos, and literally hundreds that are too blurred to be any use. Oh well, at least I haven't paid processing charges.

Had a minor heart-stopping moment when I thought I'd lost a load of shots, only to find (by reading the manual) that the Kx splits pictures not only by date, but into folders of 500 photos each. Must be the first time I've taken so many, but don't worry, I'm not going to post them all.

Any comments welcome.

Yes, one of the two snoots was mine, our local club managed to get a good spot for the display largely by turning up before 8am (not me, I hasten to add).

I'll post mine from behind the barriers in a minute.

Nice photos Simon, I did wonder if I'd seen you yesterday as there was a guy with a media jacket and a couple of Pentax cameras came past when I was standing at Cascades.

Have photographed stranglers before though, jet black wasn't on drums at V has he retired???
No, he was taken ill during the early tour (March/April) and has been convalescing. The guy at V (and the other stuff they've been at recently) is actually a stand-in for the usual stand-in as he's got other commitments this summer. I've heard Jet is fully recovered now.

Yes, they seem to be getting on "top of the bill if you hold it running order" quite a lot recently, similar slot at Glasto the other year. Ah well.

No Stranglers pics? I couldn't see them on the Flickr stream at least.

Whatever the method, make sure you have about half an image of overlap between each one.
As it turns out there's an article in the latest DSLR Photography magazine that I'll read through as well. Perhaps my main problem is that I've been trying to do them manually by opening in Paintshop and overlaying them, and it sounds as if I'm on a hiding to nothing to get seamless shots that way.
