Thanks for that. The second one is cropped, but I avoided doing much more to it. These were taken a couple of days before the wheel was to be dismantled, so a bit of a rush-job.

It wasn't until I was driving away that I noticed a much better viewpoint from around the roundabout in front of the wheel, but I didn't fancy turning around at that point. Funnily enough, I was actually waiting for the sky to go darker to get a nicer contrast - the ones I took from the car park roof are against a lighter sky but I didn't really want much in the picture other than the wheel itself.

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated.

Sorry, somehow I've managed to mess up the forum width, though I don't know how.

Thoughts anyone? I was a little disappointed at the 1:1 quality of the images
especially on the wheel itself, but they're pretty much the first dark shots I've taken with the camera (KX, standard 18-55 kit lens)
since I bought it. And by this time I'd lost the bit that sits between the camera
and tripod, so I had to hold it in place. I don't know whether I'm expecting too much.

G'day and welcome - what do you mean *only* The Stranglers?

Good camera too.
Honestly, I meant "only" as in "exclusively" - no matter how I try to get into newer stuff I can't stomach most of it. Perhaps it's age. Anyway, looking forward to the new tour in a month or two.

Less than three miles from you Pete, I was there last weekend trying to get some decent pics of the Battle, which kind of worked when you could get a shot without a lamp-post or set of traffic lights. In fact my Avatar is outside Sweetbriar Hall near the Boot and Shoe.

Hi, I just joined up. I have a KX which I bought last year mainly to get some decent photos at the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power, a local motorsport event. My old p-a-s was fine, until something was moving, then I got a lot of shots with the rear end of the car heading out of frame. Quite pleased with the camera so far, just disappointed a lack of things to take photos of around here.
I'm from Cheshire, into classic cars and classic motorsport, music (though only really The Stranglers) and beer. I took up photography in school which was ahem years ago, bought an MV-1 then an ME Super, and mainly went for the KX over Canon or Nikon so I could use my lenses, now finding that perhaps I need to spring for a new zoom to replace my old 80-200 Chinon manual lens.
All for now,
Mike.
