Is there any remaining warranty on this, or is it finished now?

Nice shots. I know what you mean about location, having said that though for me it's mostly about knowing you have a decent view, easily accessible (broke that one this year, clambering around barbed wire fences in pitch darkness) and not with loads of people wandering around with powerful torches. What I would like to do is find a nearby display with a good landscape underneath and try to capture that too.

I like the first two, nice to see something of the foreground as well as the light trails.

Groan. Thanks though, as I look at them this morning they're quite similar (though the post originally had twice as many), but then there's not much you can do with long exposure fireworks that varies much.

I took some shots at this event last year, held in Nantwich (Cheshire), but from a different viewpoint this time. A short burst of heavy rain five minutes before the display started was a little offputting, but it soon passed. Once again I'd taken the Tamron 70-300, thinking that the more remote view would make it more suitable, though it turns out I could have done with being able to pull back a little further for some of the higher displays. And I wish I'd noticed those telegraph wires, though there wasn't much I could do about them and I don't find the annoying enough to try to clone them out - they're almost invisible in these shots anyway.

I noticed this last night, and nice to see he seemed to be doing his best to make sure the 'Pentax' brand name on the camera was in shot.

Yes, very nice shots there - I don't think I managed a single sharp image of that Capri other than in the paddock. Particularly good depth of field on number 2.

I must admit when you mentioned you'd been at Spa, I imagined you'd be flying into Manchester on Sunday evening, not driving back. Thinking about it makes me tired.

Cheers Philip. I suspect if I tried the shots Simon has there I'd be looking at lot more blurry pictures - I've only just managed to get some decent stuff when the distance camera-car isn't really changing much, and not changing very quickly.

There is a hint of looking as if they're on a hill, and of course either the flat or the tilted shots could easily be 'converted' post shot. Mainly it was the panning that I was trying with, even with the same shutter speed (1/125th) I am finding it very easy to end up with blurred shots, but I don't want to go to 1/160th as it will start to reduce the background blur and take away from the motion effect. At the end of the event I can think of better shots, better locations and so on (even with the places I can get to as a 'normo') but there's always next time.

Thanks guys. Without press access there's a limit to the locations I can shoot from, and I tried a few fast-shutter shots but they just look like the cars are static - funny how years ago I was always aiming for that freeze-frame effect. As always I have many hundreds of almost-identical shots, ideal for car enthusiasts who will notice the different cars, but not here.
