Very nice set, 3 and 9 are particularly clear - would you say that's more down to the camera body, or the lens, or the combination?

3! I meant 3, not 4. Hence my "also the pano" comment makes some sense now.

I think 4 is a favourite for me there. The pano is also nice, something I've been playing with (read: doing to death) since I found Autostitch a few weeks ago.

I must admit I tend to zoom out a little and then crop rather than trying to fill the frame - for exactly that reason, it's easier to crop later than try to follow something moving very quickly. I'm not sure I have the eyesight for manual focussing but will be trying it next time I'm out somewhere.

I get some similar softness on exactly the same combination, Kx and Tamron 70-300. Talking to forum contributor Simon Arron a few weeks ago he mentioned similar issues with the same lens, and suggested perhaps trying a manual focus approach for better results - if your lens is like mine, you know as soon as it loses the subject (especially with aircraft) it'll be winding backwards and forwards trying to find something to focus on until you take pity and point it at a nearby tree. As you said, though, price comes into it - mine was used from someone on this forum and well under £100.

My only critique (which I know you didn't ask for...) is the framing on 4, 7 and 17 (and almost on 16) cutting a bit off the end of the subject.

Already marked in my diary Simon, hoping it's a bit bigger again next year. I guess when you're there all weekend there's bound to be a lot of overlap - I've got a shot of the sidecars that's pretty much identical layout to the one you posted.

It's an interesting choice of colour on that 911 - different, but not as 'in your face' as stuff like the McLaren was. I quite liked the Magenta Bentley CGT as well, another unusual shade.

Another nice weekend at Cholmondeley Castle, without much of the usual appalling weather.

As the marshals were awarding a prize for the "most entertaining" vehicle of the weekend, this led to a lot of jumping off the humpback bridge, some very expensive stuff needing tracking checks after this I suspect.

As Simon said elsewhere, a little smaller than previously, and as it's my local event I hope it's only catching a breath rather than winding down. Fingers crossed for next year.

(Sorry, forgot to add, all Pentax Kx, air shots with Sigma 50-500 [which needs cleaning by the look of it], track shots mainly Tamron 70-300, paddock kit 18-55. Biggest challenge, narrowing down the 600+ shots and not being too repetitive except with the last two).

Some very nice shots there Simon, and good to meet you too. Weather took a turn for the worse on Sunday morning, but still a nice weekend.

I get similar probles from time to time, also find that it logs me out for no reason I can understand. That said, I'm on XP and IE8 and most sites blame that.
