I'd go for the 55-300. Just bought one myself and very please with it. A good tripod is a must plus the neutral density graduated filters.

To be honest you've got the focal lengths covered with those two. You may want a 50mm f1.4 for low light (or the 40mm pancake for "travelling light". The only other thing would be to get better quality zooms - eg Pentax 17-70mm which may be enough as a single lense solution to save having to change lenses.

Pay the little extra for the Pentax 55-300. I had the Tamron and sold it for the Pentax - far superior image quality

I recently changed my Tamron for the Pentax. They really are very different - the Pentax is far superior imho

My A1.7 has the same problem - though not quite as bad in that I can get the "A" button to lock if I persist

I'd say you'd be covered on your household insurance as "mugging" would be theft.

Mike, did you know BEFORE you saw it on the claim form?

I contacted Pentax yesterday to get a cash back form for the two lenses I bought at the end of January as it is not available from the website. On looking at the form it seems that I may have missed the boat - it seems that the closing date for this offer was 13th Feb - which may be why it's not on the site4 any more - did anyone else know this before seeing the form or is it just me being unobservant....I sent it off anyway - do you think they'll honour the claim (it's only 2x £25)

The card for my small Canon printer is gloss on one side and postcard format on the other. The printer is a sublimation one and the "ink" is water resistant/waterproof I think - well worth a look at the more recent Canon Selphy printers
