I would think 2 possible drawbacks are this:

A) somebody with a lot of potential, and little experience/confidence may get intimmidated or have thier feelings hurt.

B) some people are overly competitive and or sensitive and this could get unfriendly and unproductive.

I remember when I was younger and dumber going to a national kumate in Barrie Ont years back.
I had just gotten my green belt, the week before the tournament.
There was a kid there that had earned a reputation as a proffessional green belt, because he had entered that tournament many years in a row, but would not go for his brown belt. It was his home town and he had won that belt devision every time. I remember watching him defeat opponant after opponant and listening to students who had given up before they got in the ring with him.
I realized he was bigger, stronger, faster and way more experienced. I learned his tactics and understood his thinking. He was a bully. I decided that there was no way past his reach without getting hit (in fact I didn't see anybody hit him..) so I decided to go into the ring with him with a strategy. I decided to find out which one of us could endure the most pain and still get back up...

My point is some people don't play fair, some people are overly competitive and sometimes they wind up in the ring with each other and things get ugly...

I'm glad you laughed and want to make people fully aware it was intended as a compliment...really, the noise filter in these cameras started out as some ingenius guys' technique, that became a plug in, for some version of photoshop, that camera makers studied to devise algorithyms for my ist ds2.
It really is a software solution, as both Sony and Nikon using the same sensor performed poorer at high iso settings than the pentax in some reviews.
I predicted (wrongly) some time back that when dslrs finally broke the sub $5000.00 mark that they'd have "Film" filters built in, by that I meant they'd have a setting for emulating Velvia, or kodakchrome or agfa ultra 50 etc, in order to lure prosumers away from film.
I'm still hopeful that my next digital camera will be an evf using a DLP chip ( think rear projection tv)to reflect light on to 3- 6mp cmos sensors with leaf shutter lens and no mirror......

MattMatic said "You'll need to give it time - RAW processing takes a little skill and practise, just like hand developing!

I say wait for Pentax to come out with the *ist ds4 featuring the "MattMatic" filter for extracting the sharpest Jpegs possible IN CAMERA!

This works easily on my mac, but I'm sure somebody else has the know how to work it on a pc.
1) use Pentax remote assistant with my ds2 to take pics on intervalometer.
2) set Image Capture's (apple software)web sharing to remotely ascess the camera.
3) use Safari (apple web browser) to remotely view and download images from my *st ds2. (click bonjour, then the camera)
There is a remote operation function that works with my canon g5/pro1 but not the pentax. (It allows me to fire the shutter on demand from the web,) but the viewer function works and allows me to view the images and download them to my mac, and to erase the memory card. If I set my folder in the Pentax Remote software to use my Pictures folder in my Idisk, I can access my images from any web browser through my website.
Home security, bird feeder shots, pet kennel etc.
This is fun to play with.

Wait a minute that was for constant light.
set your shutter speed as constant and adjust your aperture, for testing with flashjavascript:emoticon('')

As person with learning disabilities, I have trouble with math.
For what it's worth. I solved that same problem with a note pad, some slide film and some carefully controlled test shots, which found thier way into a binder. Set up a repeatable shot. use the aperture, then vary you shutter speeds. Use your processed slides for reference, and calculate other shutter/aperture combos for each lens/bellows combo.
Hope somebody else can help you with specifics, I would if I could, I had a photo encyclopedia, around here somewhere....

How well does it work? do you think it was worth the money?
I'm the type that usually foregoes the lens shade, preferring instead to use a hand, or grey card or reflector to shade the lens. I think I'll stick with that same tactic for my lcd, but then again, I've been known to change my mind...use what works....keep us posted, please.
I'd like to know how well it holds up to use over time also.
