you'll notice that I avoided feeding the troll in the other thread...
I believe that a good photographer can take any peice of equipment from any brand and push it to it's limits and get the best images possible.
of course we all have preferences, and our own styles.
I equate it to motorcyles.
when some guy on a new 1200 cc sportbike pulls up to me on my old sportbike, I don't need him to tell me that his bikes got better brakes, lighter weight, better handling, when he asks me if I want to go....
I size him up, if he's a good hundred pounds heavier than me and his bikes a good hundred pounds lighter than mine...if his tires arent worn edge to edge, does it matter if his bike can lean farther than mine? if he says his bike does 300 kph, and his brakes don't look scorched, so what? when I say my bike does 260, I mean the needle on the dial blows past the number 260 more often than I care to admit....
camera's no different...image that counts.

I concur Tyr....
A smaller dslr, with styling and handling cues from the mz5n would be worth buying.
What else could I possibly consider to replace my ds2 with?
The k10's are nice, (and get plenty of use by Gerri) and I use em in the studio...but I like the ds2 with the 50mm1.4 for walking around. In fact, I throw a 10-17, the 28-70, and the ds2 into a lowepro hip pack, and that's really all I need for a weekend.....

thread it to the bottom of your camera. Clasp an old dog leash to the key ring and stand on the leash to add some tension, while handholding the camera.
My point? you can get about the same amount of stability, for pocket change, and save your money to buy a better tripod later. manfrotto modo are quite small.
the others here have given all the good advice, but I felt there was just a little more "outside the box" idea for you.
