The best advice I can give you is to shoot RAW and worry about WB later.
Meanwhile, you're going to have to see if there's enough red and/or green in the image to use a selective color Curves layer, and pull out something usable out of the photos.

your raw converter should be able to batch process jpegs should it not?
or else try a photoshop action with a photofilter adjustment

Assuming you were shooting in JPG and you are using PS you may want to try this action "Chip Springer's Digital Grey Card", you can download it from htttp://www.atncentral.com/download.htm#Editing, It's not perfect but does do the business if there is enough data in the image.

You could try the Photo Filters if you are using CS2. Maybe an 81 or 85 filter will help. If all is lost though you could always convert them all to monochrome and tell everyone you are doing it on purpose...

get a copy of silkypix, or even the trial version to try it out.
Silkypix has some way of treating JPG's as if they are RAW images (to some degree).
I had some screwed up JPEG's as well from before I was 'converted' to RAW shooting. They came out very nice with silkypix.

I forgot about Silkypix DS3 and JPG's
Here's a quick and dirty comparison of SP DS3 and the Digital Grey Card action.
The original pic of my sister Pat (short for Patience ) is a disaster but both SP and DGC go a long way to starting the recue, no other adjustments were made to the original pef file apart from conversion to jpg with all settings at default. The SP adjustment was done by using the Skin Colour Tool only.

The Silkypix version looks the most pleasing to my eyes. The graycard looks cold and flat.

thanks for the input guys, silkypix sounds good, but i'm not going to rule out the other options, have allready tried the "quickfix" tools in paint shop pro which gives a sliding scale for colour temp (in Kelvin would you believe) the results were quite favourable so all may not be lost.

I just got back from a few days in Prague, the weather was overcast on a couple of days and nice blue skies the rest of the time, problem was my istD was shooting with an undesireable blue cast, my wifes Minolta Dimage was turning out reasonable stuff and I thought my istD had thrown a wobbly, I checked the saturation settings etc, tried it in different modes, but the blue cast was still there, I decided to continue shooting (blue pics are better than none)
On the last day I tried some flash shots in the hotel, they were equally as blue, I was just about to resign to the fact my camera needed some expert attention when it dawned on me what the problem was, dont know how its happened but my white balance setting had been changed from auto to tungsten, why I never thought of this is anybodys guess, I felt such an idiot.....
So, does anyone have a quick fix method of adjusting the colour balance in photoshop, preferably something I can apply as a batch filter to every image. the images were all shot at the highest quality jpeg setting,
My MZ5n also had a fit, but thats another post......
