I read up on that a while back also.
the software should make it possible to eliminate all types of ca as well as refocus.

had a situation yesterday. it made me laugh,
I was at a photo store, trying out the 50-135 f2.8.
Gerri fires a shot with the k10 and comes up with this weird screen, with a bunch of little rectangles, on black...
neither she nor the clerk could figure it out...
I get handed this camera and at first I'm stumpped...I don't recallever seeing that....push back a few frames, and there's this antique teacup I'd shot earler, and the rgb histograms for it.
I hadn't used that setting since we got the camera and was testing every feature.
I had also broken one of my own rules and and didn't reset the camera controls before putting it away, and so when Gerri fired a test shot at the store, she was shooting at iso 100 f16 1/180 sec in manual mode.
It was the solid black frame that threw us all off for a minute or three...

so other than to troubleshoot difficult color casts in the feild, I'm not real sure what use the feature serves, (I use grey cards and manual wb, even when shooting raw, so I've not needed it).

depreciation is the acccounting thing...but we do sell off our used gear, (computer and photo/video) and replace on a regular basis....so resale affects bottom line. We are small. Incorporating is due to multimedia content creation, not family portraits...Heck if it was feasable, I'd rather rent everything when needed. The financial losses on computer/digital cameras, plus the travel risks, airline restrictions, make rentals look better and better...there's just not enough services to meet the growing demand.
sorry for hijacking this thread...back to the topic...get the brand name glass if you want your kit to hold some value...don't bother, if your budget is limited, and you just want to get nice photos, they are both good lenses.

well i'm in business, and my net worth does matter.
If a $1200.00 body, and a $650.00 lens, at the end of three years, are both worth about $3-400.00, then how does that affect me if I sell my company or go public ( I am incorporating this year)?

Don
consider the used value of your lens in three years vs the value of your dslr...
I'd say for the short term, buy good quality brand name glass, and consider the dslr body...disposable.

Don
thank you guys!
that is a fog machine, I got for $5.00 clearance after halloween.
I am waiting for some lighting tools to arrive that'll give me the extra control i need to balance the colored light. as it is, the yellow and blue gels are both on one light unit, and since the blue was much denser than the yellow...
but here's the good news...It's an easy set up that the kids (his age) like.
I do love to blow things up, but I think blowing up my stepson could adversly affect my sexlife, so no pyrotechnics around the kids.....
