I like the effect of the smoke as an abstract backdrop, but the back light may be too bright. It is really taking my attention away from the face. I think a tighter crop might work better as well.

Very cool - like the idea - must agree with amoringello that the backlight could be a little dimmer, and maybe not quite so dark in the bottom right...

Very dramatic - do you have a fog machine, or is it "homemade" smoke ? (I seem to recall you giving a dangerous sounding smoke recipe a few weeks back for smoke, or pyrotechnics, or both...)

thank you guys!
that is a fog machine, I got for $5.00 clearance after halloween.
I am waiting for some lighting tools to arrive that'll give me the extra control i need to balance the colored light. as it is, the yellow and blue gels are both on one light unit, and since the blue was much denser than the yellow...
but here's the good news...It's an easy set up that the kids (his age) like.
I do love to blow things up, but I think blowing up my stepson could adversly affect my sexlife, so no pyrotechnics around the kids.....
