there's an image that should appeal to my kids.
They seem to love animals.
They seem to love boogers....
why not combine the two!

new doesn't always mean free from manufacturing defects or damages.
I had a simillar problem with a firewire case I installed on my robot....
I believe I narrowed the problem down to a static discharge damaging the circiuts inside the case during install....in other words, I broke it.

it's tough getting models....

but for creative control, model releases, and copyright issues....

pop up an ad, pay your subject, and shoot it yourself is the best option.

there's lot's o folks here that'll give free advice on how to age it in photoshop to get the look yer after!

I usually point out the fact that the same laws that allow them to set up video security camera and capture my image without my consent allow me to do the same. It works both ways. I then point out various clubs and associations I belong to and the approximate number of people I can have setting up protests and boycotts of thier businesses, if they insist on harassing me or violating my rights.
Bottom line and bottom dollar go hand in hand.

sadly, Gerri went out and bought a K10 with lens last month.
:0(
She didn't know I had my eye on a K20 and was waiting to buy one this spring.

Can't really justify buying one now....
2 k10's and a ds2, is enough camera for this year's budget....

on the positive side, there's some new pro camcorders from sony....

it's the out of focus specular highlights that take the shape of the filter. any light sources in front or behind the point of focus.
Andrew chose his subject matter very well for this technique. without those bright light sources in the background, the effect would just be blury, hazy, foregrounds.

a fast aperture, will also acentuate the effect.

would Andrew consider doing a shot or two of Before/After shots?

I like them. Never hurts to add more ideas to your bag-o-tools though!

white will also act as a diffuser, and affect exposure over the entire frame.
black (esp cinefoil) will leave your image looking sharp and clear, affecting only the specular highlights.

I did glance at the three images and like the white paper effect, but nope didn't notice you also shot with black cutouts.
