aperture makes a RAW workflow, as seemless, and fast as shooting jpegs.
for a wedding job, I'd give up photoshop before aperture, if I was forced to choose.

you may need to buy/make an adaptor for that.
your camera has a STEREO plug and your remote probably has a MONO plug.

what you need is a stereo plug (into the camera), a mono jack(to plug the remote into).
several ways to set that up using off the shelf plugs (1 stereo to 2 mono jack).....and adaptors.

I shoot images with my robot. (even without the mechanized body the camera could be set up in studio this way).
the camera connects to my laptop with usb.
the laptop is connected to my desktop through wi-fi.
I control the laptop and camera with a vnc over the network.

also my elinchrom radio slave will fire the camera ( not teathered to computer) from that distace.

I wonder if a router that supports networked drives with usb port could work...but I don't know....

you know what I just realized?

I haven't opened photoshop or elements in over a month!
been doing all my routine image adjustments in aperture, and have not done any "Photo Art" or digital manipulations.....

any other people finding that Aperture/Lightroom has left other programs collecting dust?

you're asking how much more money.....

If you had asked something like "I need (blah, blah, blah) feature, to accomplish (such and such) task. Will cs3 meet my needs?"...

my advice is save your money and don't buy cs3 until you have to.

on start up set your focal length to 50mm. that is for your shake reduction (which you can turn off if you don't need it).

at f1.7 you will not get as sharp an image from that lens as you will when you stop it down a couple stops. (where it will blow away the kit lens).

at f 1.7 you will have very shallow DOF, until you stop it down.

make sure your diopter is set on your viewfinder properly.

use the green focus indicater in the viewfinder.

I did not realize these functions of the k100d were different from the k10, or ds2. (seems like one of those things that SHOULD be consistant from one model to the next)
sorry if I was wrong.

You're right that Saturation and Tone are not adjustable when using the Green and Scene modes. All I can suggest is that you try and sort out the problem via the computer and/or printer, and/or have a go with the other modes on the camera.
if you shoot in srgb, your display should be profiled for srgb, and so you should set your printer to srgb. (or all set to adobe 9.

in rec mode:
set your image tone to normal, not bright.
set saturation back one notch.
set sharpness up 2 notchs.
set file format to jpeg (use highest quality settings...) (this will work on green and all other settings)

in custom menu :
scroll down to color space, and set it to srgb.

now it's down to your computer monitor.....
monitors need to be calibrated for acuurate readings...
so tell us how your monitor is set up if the camera adjustments don't get you sorted...

ps the Pentax is a Photographers camera.....
why not take some time to learn.... very rewarding pass-time! goes great with scotch...just ask the guys they'll tell ya!
