When I was young(er), we'd go in restaurants, and before leaving, we'd take the lid off the sugar dispenser, but a cardboard on the dispenser so we could flip it over on the table, slide the cardboard off from underneath, and just put the lid back sitting on it. Then, we'd wait to see the face of the next person ordering coffee...
We used to (thank goodness for both growing up and statutes of limitations) mix sugar with saltpetre (potassium nitrate) and dump it by the handful into those big sand filled ashtrays the malls often had in thier common areas... you must've lived in a nicer neighborhood than me...lol

in camera, the way to deal with fog/mist is to overexpose... open up a stop or two over the camera reading...

that pool table shot...
imagine a flash unit on the floor behind the table with a cto gel on it pointing straight up hitting the ceiling beside the trac lights... that fills under the stairs and the whole corner...
one flash unit clamped to the long far edge of the pool table to light the bookshelf...
one bare bulb flash in an ajacent room to light the front of the table and one bounced (backward for reflected fill) at the camera position...

Darlene... your moon shots are overexposed adding to the problem.
do a search in these forums on moon shots and sunny sixteen rules, and keep trying.

you will find if you get the exposure right, the red ring will diminish, and be much less noticable.

See greyhound man's shot? there should be some visible detial in your moonshots as well.

an exposure of :
f8, 1/250 sec at iso 200 would have been closer to right for that first shot, believe it or not...

looks like the photog is bouncing the lights up and backwards, letting the reflected flash light add fill, probably using reflectors as well. He appears to be using his flash units or daylight balanced lights inside the room light fixtures as well, or is aiming his flashes right at the light fixtures.

here's a (not so great) hdr:

and a flash shot, with indirect flash:

Well thank you all for the advice. I can honestly say the Samsung 2333 is impressive for the price.
out of the box it's very bright, and needs to be adjusted BEFORE calibrating with the Huey.
A little blooming off the highlights, but man, it is a very good display easpecially for the cost. if it lasts, it will have to go down as one of the best bargians I've found in computer gear!
A keeper for sure.
